Can Buzz Lightyear REALLY Fly?

He can fly / glide mostly due to his wings' aerodynamic and 'High Pressure' ( as stated in the commercial ) design. Also adding with the controlled speed of air / wind, and buzz himself ( and also woody in the first film ). More like Gliding with Zephyr to me.

Well it would be true if he just glided, but he clearly flied, so no point to take into consideration here. He even got a little higher in the middle of the flying and he could control directions, not to mention he stopped when he wanted, so that wasn't just gliding.

it is 50 percent flight 50 percent glide, using the laws of controlling direction, wind, enough height to build momentum. with his very low weight and using a high amount of force and also applied to need a couple hundred feet to main kinetic force. and his wingspan is wide enough and long enough along with thickness to provide high resistance to allow for buzz to maintain the attitude. the more force, height, lighter he is and the bigger wingspan, the more forces helping him allows him to achieve nigh true flight. and he actually had a rocket for a moment. like having thrusters for himself. let's do some math. buzz weighs 2.27 pounds. see, every milli ounce counts for this equation, i do not know how large his wings are but large enough. the rocket propelled them both to maybe 500 feet in the air, also he was carrying woody. using the laws of physics such as weight, the air pressure, the wingspan, E=MC squared and any other variable. i would say as long he maintained several hundred feet in the air he would maintain flight. however i believe despite all the forces helping buzz fly at all was in a way borrowed and when he went to Andy the laws of physics was about to catch up with him. what he did was a loophole, he bended the rules, he didn't break them. its just the laws of physics using his mass efficiently.

Pretty sure he tried to fly down the highway to see if he could find Woody or Forky. If he was incapable of flying, he would have never even tried

@@techtalktoys bro it was just a reference to toy story 1 when he said "not flying, just falling with style". So buzz can't fly and he knows that. Obviously he used his wings to land farther.

well, It is physically accurate if he was travelling at a great enough speed, he WOULD be able to fly upward for around a minute before he would start gliding

I've always found this particular scene really weird, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. I knew he wasn't actually flying. Buzz even said himself that he's just "falling with style" like Woody said earlier in the film. But those moves seemed like more than just falling with style!

@@thelibyanplzcomeback yeah cause he wasn't supposed to fly, that's what the whole plot is about, ofc a comercial of the toy would make it clear, but the protagonist Buzz actually flied... A kid playing with it would never make it fly so it's okay to the comercial stating that, but he flying goes beyond being a toy, no human knows they're alive. Prolly they didn't want to make it a definitive aspect of the character, cause Toy Story wasn't even supposed to have a second movie so it would be great to end it that way... But there were a trillion occasions where he could've just fly out and didn't in the later movies, prolly cause it would've just be too easy so they took it out and he just flies in specific occasions. That's what the video says, that was never clearly stated, but it's a fact that he flied in the first movie, he could even control directions and stuff... That wasn't just gliding.

We can't debate with facts something that was never explained in the franchise, fact is that he flies at the first movie and don't in the later ones...

He is gliding, since he doesn’t have any means of propulsion. The question we mean to ask is, if buzz were self propelling, how fast would he have to go(below orbits speeds) to achieve sustained lift

I remember taping woody to my buzz went out my nans backyard and threw him over the railing he flew for 1 second then fell instantly so I removed woody and he started to glide for 2 seconds and flew jk he just did a tailspin and fell to the ground again that's why he lost his helmet xD

He's a toy. The whole point is that he can't fly. In Toy Story 1 & 4 he's just gliding "Falling with style". Yes, realistically he would just fall straight down but that would make the moment a lot less exciting.

Man, he literally flies in the first movie... That's not just gliding, he controls the directions and even aim for the car, stops flying when he wanted to. It was prolly because they never meant to do other Toy Story movies so he flying in the end would be a great conclusion to the plot for a "toy that can't fly".
