Can Cleaning my DME Fix my BMW's Electrical Issues?

same issue with my friends car dme box flooded and we ended up sending out the dme cas and key and the guy married the cas and key to a new dme. he wasnt able to communicate with the dme at all but he managed to get a new dme to work with the existing cas and key

Hello Chris, I am on the same boat. My dme is partially fried. DME won't activate the main relay. I am able to start the car by manually activating it. Let us know where you did the cloning and a good place to source a DME. Great engineering from BMW by putting a sensitive computer in an place where it can get water damaged.

Hey Chris, loved the video. Super informative. I have a 2006 325i that has similar corrosion on the DME. The car will start and run but seems to be missing pretty badly, I don’t have the dealer software like you do but I do have Bimmergeeks Protool. My main issue currently is I can’t connect to the car to read any codes at all. Could this be a DME issue? My OBD2 port definitely has power because it charges the tablet and all the DME fuses are good as well.

Hmm that's weird, definitely make sure the pins for diagnostic on the dme are not corroded/broken. If there is corrosion or rust on the pins though, chances are it got inside the dme itself and you need a replacement. Hope that helps and good luck!

Lots of retrofits, oem style with light tuning! Something to take to car shows or just road trips. The M5 gets bad MPG and is not worth putting tons of miles on it, this car will be the workhorse instead!

Could try submerging the DME deionized water.. this is the way they clean circuit boards at the factory!!

what program are you using on ur computer??? my mechanic is saying i have DME and VVT water damage. i took my DME and VVT to an electronics repair store, that guy says my VVT is water damaged and he is fixing it but the DME is completely fine from what he can see. if i had this program it would be a major help to see who is correct
