Dragons should be on the table but I do think the game isn't quite there balance wise to allow them free reign. The problem is they have so many bonuses in the current ruleset, they are mobile, they are lots of points (great if they never die), they can be an awesome gun platform with magic, they can deal some great damage and some dragons can have great combat res. Compare this to other units in certain armies that can't field dragons and it is a real struggle to see how they can possibly deal with one. At 2000 points the extra points in some of these armies can help but it can still be a slog.

I’m surprised I haven’t seen anyone compare a Lord of Change to a Galrauch. Both have similar stats and are casters. Though Galrauch doesn’t get to pick his lore and have any options. But both stats are similar and are close to the same cost.

Interesting observation - the Daemon rules seem the most undercooked, but that might mean there is scope to do something unexpected.

I like fighting dragons in the old world but i've only done it once so experience is limited.

There needs to be several restrictions for dragons to be fun in the old world at all. One is character limits need to be down to 40% or even 33% so the dragon doesn’t have so much support otherwise I think dragons belong in games of 3000 points and higher.
