Amazing how both sides look very much the same. I do find that sometimes I have an allergic reaction to the drug store makeup brands but most of all it's more about how well they wear. I would have loved to have you show us at the end how things looked after an all day wear. I will be running out to get the LA Girl lip liner though!

As I have been getting older (turning 44 soon), I have come to appreciate the better quality of higher end makeup. Makeup that doesn't make me look dry or emphasizes texture is worth the money to me now. Great video as always Mandy!

Yes, I don't have nearly as smooth skin and wonder how any of these (high end or drugstore) would do with my skin type. I also have found I have allergies to pretty much everything these days, high end or otherwise. I am on the hunt for some good affordable makeup as I haven't worn anything for years bc of allergies (and covid, and kids...just no reason to take care of me anymore and wanting to change that) so I hope to try some of these and see if they work for me. :) I need to start somewhere!

I am such a drugstore girl! I have only a couple of high end products because drug store stuff is SO GOOD it has to be really unique or exceptional if I'm gonna spend big bucks. And I love the Sky High mascara for the same reason! I take a water therapy class twice a week and the therapy pool is heated. So while you don't put your head under water, it is VERY humid when you are in the pool and that is my holy grail mascara for water class nights. It stays put and smudges way less than even my waterproof formulas. FWIW, I find that if I use very warm water on a washcloth and do a little hold and rub (kind of like I do for my tubing mascaras) I can break down and get a good amount of it off - particularly if I use my erase your face cloth - and then use my cleansing balm to get the remnants. I find it harder to remove than my Thrive but easier to remove than my waterproof Lash Princess.

Definitely prefer the price of drugstore. For me, a big difference is in quality of ingredients. Most drugstore face base and cheek products break me out, higher end and "clean" makeup doesn't (as much) Also I find the longevity of the high end is way better. Not necessarily on wear time but how long a 30ml bottle or 5g powder last before they run out or turn bad. And colorful eyeshadow. Yes there are more and more like colorpop and juvia's place, bit I live in Europe, I'm not gonna order drugstore eyeshadow and pay 5x the price for import.

Great video! The drugstore brands vs high end may look similar, but performance and lasting power - especially in eye shadow do NOT compare in how they perform. I have yet to find a drugstore eye shadow that performs the same way a high end one does! I have wasted more money on buying drugstore eye shadows and them not being used at they are either hard to work with and the fallout is horrendous. I will stick with my high end eye shadows. That being said - there are some great drug store items that work great! Eye liners, mascaras, blush, bronzers, highliters work great - and I will keep using drugstore brands I like.

My own hair is sort of like that, I have two - yes two - sections that look like dry hay, one on either side of my face! So the rest of my hair looks good, I can totally get away without curling it. But both sections on either side of my face need that touch up with a curl and then it blends in with the rest. Go figure! As for the Maybelline Sky High mascara, I need a tubing mascara due to my deep-set eyes. My acid test is whether a mascara leaves dots beneath my brows. The Sky High mascara is a wonder - I adore it. And yes, I remove it just like I would a tubing mascara and it's totally easy to remove! I won't give it up and it doesn't even pay to try any new options. I am set!!

Thank you for the great video. Yes! They both look great. I’ve been working on trying a few drugstore items. However, I have a few problems with drugstore- often they have scents (I am Super sensitive to scents), it’s not cheap if I need to buy several items to get a shade match, and I’ve had a problem with makeup breaking in the Pan or too much fallout of product. Lastly, I’ve noticed that the drug store items may stain my cloths upon removal of makeup. That being said I am trying some drugstore to play around with colors and products- it’s not a major investment if I don’t like it.

I'm shocked. I already use a several of the drugstore items and one or two of the high end. I have struggled with wanting to purchase a couple of the high end items BUT you have changed my mind. Btw I laughed at your hair joke but bc I CAN relate. Which Oribe products did you use? Again, another one I've struggled with buying bc of the price. My hair, however, on some days just needs lots of help. I will tell you that I caved and bought a good many of the L'ange hair products. I hesitated simply bc of how they advertise but when they had their $9 sale I bought shampoo/conditioner(both moisturizing and purple), the deep conditioner mask, and a multitude of styling products. I must say though I'm loving the styling products. I create a cocktail using their Thick-it creme (my hair is ridiculously thick but trust me), their sorbet smoothing balm, and their satin necter gloss or their posh hair polish. The combo of these may seem ridiculous but they do miraculous things to help my hair and tame humidity frizz. 💜
