Whitney, usually a fantastic communicator failed here, instead of rightfully calling Ella's actions selfish, she attacked Ella as a selfish human being. I agree its blown out of proportion but the argument people are making against Whitney is about her character it's not race related. It'd be the same if any other character who was voted the favorite did the same. Here's something to consider. Whit had a pattern of saying blunt unkind things saying she's honest but she has a hard time receiving criticism gracefully. Reacting by resorting to name calling shows her inability to handle criticism. She kept making passive aggressive comments about being called smug even after the challange. Most of the people in the villa agree she can dish it out to others but cant take it. That makes her a hypocrite. It's okay to be opinionated as long as she respects others opinion as well. It feels like she felt some type of way about Ella for a while and didnt say anything till she was upset about being called smug and the apology seems forced. I would be upset if my friend felt some type of way for a while and used one argument to show me how they really feel either. But at the end of the day who cares right.

The issue is since she has been voted as favourite people are now over analysing her behaviour and now saying it’s a result of her being voted as favourite which is not the case at all. Ella and Ty could not even properly justify why they called her smug in the challenge, what Ty said was ridiculous. Also, the reason why a lot of people bring up the “race” argument is because the backlash when a black woman does something people disagree with or deem as “wrong” is always so extreme in comparison to their white counterparts who genuinely do a lot worse for the most part. Whitney has since apologised multiple times and people are still throwing around insults and saying that she should be removed from the villa, for calling someone “selfish”? There’s been a lot worse said/ bad behaviour on the show but yet this is what triggering alot of people? - this is why a lot of people jump to race because nothing else adds up. If the likes of Faye and Maura can make it to the finals and have good career after the show but Whitney is being crucified for calling out Ella’s selfish traits it tells you a lot about peoples subconscious bias.

I think, how I understood it from their conversation, that it is not about the smug comment in itself, but that Ella never openly told Whitney about the fact that she thought she was smug outside of the challenge. Which is why she said "it took you a challenge to be honest with me" basically. I think both girls have said relatively hurtful things to each other, but nothing so bad that it should ruin a friendship. Small conflict is healthy and necessary. I'm glad they made up :)

that's not the point. whitney has felt this way about ella for a long long time, but because she's not a bad or evil person - she remained quiet, and befriended her. but in the challenge, of all things ella could've said, she decided to call whitney smug. there has been islanders who have left the villa and said ella is a very selfish person, but she's still a good friend. whitney HERSELF said this, ella's selfish traits do not make her negative - it's just a con, and not everyone is perfect. so yes, whitney did feel the need to voice her opinion towards ella because 1. she's not fake 2. there's no point of being nice to someone who thinks badly about you.

For everyone who is saying Eilla didn't say sorry for Whitney, A) Elias asked Whitney why she couldn't say sorry ? Then Whitney said sorry. Elia must said sorry first and didn't hear the sorry back from Whitney and asked her why she couldn't say sorry. B) we didn't hear Elia saying sorry may be because of editing. So technically Whitney didn't say sorry until she was asked by Eila. Whitney pull Elia for a chat and said sorry to Elia showed me she didn't say sorry properly in in their previous conversation, and must regretted of it or just want to show how she is nice.
