I hear ya loud and clear. 3 mos shy of 35 year union. It was never a marriage, which I consider more of a church ceremony. ALL these years later it's apparent, and the gaslighting over why he couldn't/wouldn't admit his lies. He never believed in the God we took our vows before. I have never felt so discarded or disregarded by another human. His traits, more than 5 of the 9 traits, maybe all? For his diagnosis. Above my pay grade and future knowledge of his cognitive decline and likely NPD. This is something that requires LEGAL ACTION FOR PROTECTION, A RESTRAINING ORDER? HARD TO enforce those. Although no kids, he has the dog we trained together to react to my 5 auto immune disorders disabilities and PTSD (he's now caused it to become complex c-ptsd) Sure, I'm divorcing him, but after he botched 6 years of therapy by talking to the psych behind my back, contradictory to all I was saying. I was the crazy, he was sane. According to his documents. While I did not sign a HIPAA release, it did not stop the Dr from hearing what he had to say about anything that took place, negatively. It was a 6 year nightmare that has taken a few more years getting the pieces back in order!.

While horses do a lot of work in dressage, it does require physicality to perform the proper movements in dressage- for instance, something called posting the trot is a movement riders do that basically entails rhythmic squats in tempo with the horse’s gait. It actually requires core and leg strength with plenty of stamina. 1 hour of dressage burns 410 calories, roughly equivalent to jogging for an hour for most people. Anyone saying it’s not hard or physically taxing to perform dressage has never ridden a horse 😅

I teach beginner riding lessons, and after people get the initial instruction and I have them start walking the horse around on their own, I usually ask them: "so what do you think, is the horse doing all the work?" The answer is usually an emphatic "no!". Riding horses takes core strength, balance, coordination, and the ability to regulate your own energy and emotions to help communicate with the horse. It's equal parts gratifying, exhilerating, and terrifying sometimes!

It’s not training them how to dance. The moves originated in training them for war. It looks like dancing to the untrained eye, but the moves are very difficult for any rider or horse to get to that level. Not all are talented enough. And if you are not physically fit it is extremely difficult to stay on a horse with the movements these horses can do. Think of sitting on an exercise ball raised off that ground that moves around and has a mind of its own. You have to keep your core, legs, arms, and head moving all independent of each other all while remembering to breathe.

I couldn't agree with you more if I tried, Dr Grande! A narcissist of that magnitude can drive anyone completely out of their mind for a moment. I don't think Michael's mental health is much of an issue at all now that he has gotten rid of the plague that brought him to this point. I would have been in distress during the trial, too, if I were him. The prospect and possibly of going to jail for years because of what these horrible people drove him to do must have caused a great deal of anxiety throughout the trial. I'm glad he didn't end up killing anyone. That's quite a burden to live with no matter how justified it may have been. (At least it would be for me.)

@Kari.F.
@Kari.F. 2 жыл бұрын
@@princesstiarra8071 That's comparing apples and potatoes. Her ex husband didn't refuse to move out of HER house, and make it necessary for her to move out. She didn't fear for her life either. He left her for another woman, and that is what caused her to lose her mind. She was a woman scorn and completely obsessed with it. Her kids couldn't make her stop raging and screaming profanities to and about their father, no matter how much they cried and begged her. Her rage was more important to her than the wellbeing of her own children. She later blamed HIM for the parental alienation she suffered by acting the way SHE did in the presence of her kids. The fact of the Broderick case is that she snuck into her ex husband's home and killed him and his wife in their sleep. That is not someone who has been pushed into a situation where she lost her mind in the heat and threat of the moment. That is what people do when they want revenge at any cost, even if they have to destroy their own lives and irreparably hurt their own children to get it. Those people are usually narcissists. Betty's behavior, and the way she talked both during and after her trial, had ALL the signs of a narcissism. Narcissism is a permanent personality disorder, not a temporary moment of insanity. I doubt that wanted out of the marriage because Betty was such a reasonable and easy person to deal with. I think falling in love with someone else gave him the courage and support he needed to do what he had wanted to do for a long time.

I've been in a few horrible relationships in which I began to feel I was losing my mind. I was questioning everything, and was filled with the fear that what I saw, heard, and felt, was all wrong. I'm glad I escaped and began making better choices. That was a dark, dark time.

I think the viewpoint you have is very interesting. It is definitely arguable, because addicts (even recovered ones) can display Machiavellian traits and other behaviors that would drive someone to insanity. A question I would have is if the jury would have felt the same way if a poor person was gaslit by a humanitarian organization employee, and was withheld resources/emotional support that lead to the employee being murdered, if lawyers would argue the same case for the defendant, or if Michael's social/economic status lead to the verdict.

I saw this case on Dateline. Not shown here was a photo of Michael after the two beat him. Severe face and head injuries present as he lay in the hospital bed. Hence lost memory of the event per the expert doctor at trial. Beating was severe in the photo on TV.

Lauren is also suing Michael Barisone in civil court - but refusing to give depositions in person. In the state she chose to file. Barisone's countersuit in civil court may reveal so much more about Lauren Kanarek than she wishes. There is a GFM to help defray his legal costs. "Help Michael Barisone rebuild his life". If he wins, she may finally stop harassing people.

This case is begging for your analysis. You wont be disappointed!!

Just my opinion, based on a fair amount of experience, the horse world is rife with narcissistic people. I think it's all to do with being drawn to having a large animal to control and boss around, who won't argue with them or leave them. They're often avid dog owners too for same reasons, I guess. Uurgh, it's jarring me just thinking about it.

True. And it's very expensive, but narcs are expert at separating people from their money. In Lauren's case it's Daddy Lawyer; he is enabling her and deflecting her horrible behavior to the rest of us...hmmm probably this nut fell right off that tree.

I am so happy Michael was found not guilty. What she did to him would make me snap too. She lied about him and made his life miserable. It makes me angry that he called the police three times to complain about her, and they did nothing.😡 He moved out of his own house because she wouldn't leave. If anyone needs to be in jail, it's Lauren! I hope he gets his life back and goes back to his training. He had an amazing talent with horses.

The police did not do their job, the first time Michael called them . They could have run simple background checks on the couple , and seen their atrocious patterns of criminal behavior, the same things Michael was asking for help with. I wish that man the best in the future, and hope he finds some peace. Lauren should be penalized for filing false reports.

Dr Grande you outdid yourself on this one 👏 with all the equestrian pun! My only criticism, coming from my personal experience as a horse trainer/psychologist/equine behavioral therapist if you will, is that although I agree dressage being considered a "sport" could be questionable, the level of difficulty teaching horses to "dance" and perform consistently in competition is incredibly hard and takes years of consistent dedication. Some recognition for the achievement to accomplish teaching a horse such precise maneuvers in the practice arena, let alone under the tremendous pressure in competition, is due to anyone that chooses to pursue dressage. The skill and relationship a human must develop with a horse to perform in dressage, or any other equestrian sport, is truly incredible. Of course this is towards a humane approach to dressage training. Their are other approaches that are despicable, but I won't get into that here. Anywho, as always Dr Grande I love your style and your videos. If that was just your dry humor I missed in your definition of dressage then I apologize for the criticism. Just my two cents based on many years studying horses and translating behavior to their humans.

This just screams BPD with narcissistic traits. This woman is ruthless. She knew that to hurt Michael she needed to go after his reputation and his life's work. She was also very jealous of the attention the girlfriend and the kids got from Michael and had to get rid of them, at the same time, put a mark on Michael's file as a child abuser which would render him barred from working with children and the community. She destroyed her familial relationship, except for his father (who seems to be a narcissist like her and was very proud of her in the 48 Hours interview). It's so very convenient that the cameras were turned off in the house the day the incident happened.
