So you place the ranger further ahead so he has more time damaging while tank is running in right? Any rule of thumbs on spacing? If you have a tutorial for such placement I would love to see it. Couldn't find anything

Usually you'd want to place a melee unit on the edge of the inner circle of the range of the ranged unit. Doing this will usually make the ranged unit tank a unit or two and the melee unit tank the rest. This isn't always the case, but in most circumstances it'll work.
