The truth is Hamas was to look after the city of Gaza and its people .That's how it supposed to be but not how it turned out. Hamas didn't listen to the Israel response that Hamas would be wiped out and that is what's happening now. The terrorists are now wanting for the world to send aid after thinking that they were now a military force. How wrong they were.

@@Klopp2543 Seems reasonable so long as Egypt, with other area partners, is responsible for boots on the ground security in Gaza. I'm sure the Sauds would love to remove Iran's influence there. They'd finance reconstruction if they can be the power behind the scenes. I'm not so sure they're not quiet Team Bebe in all of this.

@@needmorecowbell6895 any external force that tries to enter Gaza without concrete paths to a peaceful resolution to the Palestinian question will be regarded to have entered Gaza on the back of israeli tanks and will be seen in the same lenses of IDF! I don't think any arab nation will attempt this. Deconstruct and rebuild Gaza without a pathway to peace is like doing the same thing all over again and expecting different results. My question is why isn't israel alongside the states that armed it not responsible for the cost and rebuilding Gaza, after all it's them that devastated Gaza?

Always international pressure on Israel to retreat. Never international pressure on Hamas to surrender. The west did not treat ISIS this way.

I heard somewhere, that the nature of antisemitism is exposed through double standards. In the past, i pictured antisemites to be angry men carrying tiki torches, spouting conspiracy theories about banking cabals. The Telegraph displays a much more common, gentle, and insidious antisemitism. One in which jews aren't afforded the same historical rights to life and liberty as others people. Israel and the jews are somehow held to a higher standard by these people. Hamas and their Palestinian supporters are given the benefit of the doubt. Meanwhile, every action on the part of Israel or the jews is scrutinized as thought they WERE part of a vast conspiracy to subjugate good and pure

Now hold on. The militants felt "compelled" to rape, burn, butcher, kidnap, and torture civilians? They felt compelled to put that party under the gun? I think if this was a person acting upon their "compulsions," they would be classified as criminal or criminally insane. Plenty of serial killers had unacceptably abusive childhoods; that does not absolve them of their agency for how they imposed that same unfair suffering on others. Keep firmly in mind how Hamas was capable of strategically targeting elements of the border security; they had the capacity to specifically target that which solely exists to give Israel more control over the region. They chose civilians over military targets. It was a conscious decision made at the expense of their own security. When Americans have been wrongfully convicted, the remedy codified by our government and society is to petition for habeas corpus, to appeal, etc. When "Gazan's" have been "oppressed," what is their government's policy? What a neighbor to have.

Spot on. There's a very strong bias here clearly, which is unfortunate. Impartiality is hard but they're barely trying here. The west is guilty of Dresden. Everyone does what the Israelis are doing when subjected to such a concentrated attack on their nation. It wasn't 'minor'terrorism they were subjected to this time. What Hamas did was pure insanity. And everyone suffers as a result. Abraham accords paused. Disaster for any chance of peace. Hamas ......

What? If hamas had not targeted the military installations how would they have been able to target israeli civilians? Why did the IDF take up to 12hrs to respond? Wow! Hamas priority was alive hostages and a return of the Palestinian question to global discussion. Whenever there's peace and tranquility israel forgets Palestinians and only sits at the peace table after violence. Palestinians in Gaza and the west bank demand an end to the occupation, oppression, denial of basic human rights, dispossessions and self determination.

Where’s is your proof that any atrocities were commuted other than eyewitness testimony? Stop parroting morning Joe talking points. Imbecile. Is that what happened to your leaders when 2003 Iraq turned out to be a lie? Your country has zero credibility now & not a moment too soon.

Sophia Yan states that October 7 was "atrocious". But, in the same breath, she legitimizes the action by claiming "there's a Reason militants felt the need to perpetrate such an attack". How shockingly duplicitous of her. Her bias is further exposed when she states, "Most Palestinians... would reject Israeli authorities remaining in power", giving credence to the idea that they have a choice in the matter. Imagine traveling back to 1945. Now imagine the reaction any media outlet would receive if their foreign correspondant amplified the idea that the people of Germany or Japan somehow had the right to "reject" the Allied administration after losing the wars that THEY started. I remain amazed by the hypocrisy demonstrated by The Telegraph and their correspondents.

The first terror groups in Palestine? Haganah and Irgun. The first mass murder by the bombing of a civilian market place. Irgun. So who started this? It did not start on October 7th.
@shadowsift
@shadowsift Ай бұрын
The7th was not terrorism buddy. It was a massed military assault. The rules of engagement changed when Hamas decided to escalate hostilities in such an extraordinary manner. It was equivalent to a gigantic military raid. So yes 7th was unique. It started on the7th. That's what he meant.

Each side is the victim, and each side is the perpetrator. They need to be separated and protected from each other by a third party. Each side wants to terrorize the other. Both sides say: From the river to the sea, with genocidal intentions. Nobody is the 'good guy' in this conflict.

The Telegraph achievement here, can be seen as akin to striving to hold an objective centre, in a vortex of conflicting ideological narrative currents. As such, very commendable. It's not then their position taking that is most pertinent, but rather what opportunity for reflection/discussion their position taking allows for. I think that the "rage" metaphor which figured in this Telegraph narrative, exemplifies this opportunity for discussion/reflection, albeit an immediate reflex might be to deny such rage in the side of conflict one favours. Rage doesn't exhaust what is driving the conflict. But, to deny that rage is not involved in all sides of what we are seeing on the ground, isn't realistic or helpful. Killing tends to engender (and express) hatred and rage: hatred of the killers; rage as part of an impulse to act back against the killers. Then killing is the tip of a pyramid of what can engender hatred and rage. So a point we have reached in Israel-Palestine: where two enraged constituencies, feeling hatred for each other, are proving capable of killing each other at scale. Even we outsiders are at risk of being drawn into a degree of hatred and rage, for those doing what we see as wrong to the side we lean towards most favouring.

Statements that take what Hamas says as gospel but are always cynical of anything coming from Israel does not lead to calm reflection or discussion- good journalists strive to check their sources, actually understand something of the history and issues . There is an objective truth underlying different narratives and it would be good to see a bit more of that and less in the way of facile judgements.

Yes free Palestine from Hamas who have taken all the money sent for the people of Gaza to develop infrastructure, create businesses and a decent life. And all Hamas did with it was to put it into armaments and building the huge tunnel network. Their ‘care’ for their people even exceeds that of Putin for the Russian people.

I am appalled by Israel's response to the Hamas attack, for a nation that has suffered so much through out history, to behave, indistinguishable to their oppressors is very sobering. The hatred towards Israel by these oppressed minorities, is fuelled by this horrific response to the horrific attack by Hamas. I feel ashamed that I was naive enough to think Israel was any different.
