HOP Nuzlocke Ruleset:
1st: When a Pokemon faints, it's dead and goes into the box forever
2nd: Can only catch the first LEON encounter from each Route/Wild Area
3rd: No items in battle but held items are okay
4th: Set battle mode
5th: No leveling past the level of the gym leader's ace pokemon until the start of the battle.
6th: Only Scorbunny, Raboot, and Cinderace are allowed to dynamax

Hop's team can't be that bad, Cinderace, Corviknight and Cramorant were my main playthrough team and I did my own playthrough of Sword with a single Dubwool (final moves were: Cotton Guard + Body Press + Swords Dance + Body Slam) and it surprised me how easily I could just straight up murder any Pokémon. Hop is just a bad trainer.

If you can bait out Hop’s starter in the earlier in the Players Cup match, and take it out, instead, he’ll Dynamax his last Pokémon, usually Corviknight. I believe it happened for me when he had Inteleon use either Ice Beam or Dark Pulse. If you invite him to take place in the tournament after becoming champion, but before any of the postgame and DLC stuff, I believe that his Corviknight can G-max, and he’ll choose to do this over his starter, if I remember correctly. It’s honestly been a while since I’ve replayed theses games.
