I think Android users who are locked into GMS is no different from IOS users who are locked into iCloud and Apple services. We just fail to see it. I for one, am glad that Huawei never stops building. They're not the least bit distracted or interested in what the US administration is doing, in fact, 6G is already in development in China from some articles I've read. I'm most looking forward to HarmonyOS - Their future ecosystem that is compatible with both google apps and IOS apps and is expected to run both ecosystems seamlessly into one. Not even Apple or Google at this point has thought that far. Because everyone is just so distracted by competition and losing their primary vision. Alternatives are good. Variety is good. And I'm fortunate enough in my region in southeast Asia, to have almost every brand of smartphone in our stores - with or without contract.

They weren't all that good, but it was at least a choice. Amazon, as you mentioned, also thought they could do at least a good enough job to steer some profits to them instead of Google. Now one thing they all have(had) in common was they did use Googles base apps like Mail and Docs, so it wasn't all that bad to try out someone else because you still get the basics.....but I agree we all need an alternative here. Putting all your eggs in one basket is a really bad idea in the long term. Glad to see a company big enough to do this despite the fact they were forced to. As a Huawei P40 pro plus user, I am happy without GMS.

What about us who have bought apps from the play store? How can we migrate to Huawei without buying the same apps again? I wish you had tackled this issue in your video. Not to mention the dozen or so books I've bought from Google Books.

I'm using APKPURE for sometimes even on my "Google" supported device. It dosen't matter for me now not to have GMS.
@raps86914 жыл бұрын
well... it's a bit more than using APKPure. some apps use GMS services like Google Auth (Gmail & email sign in), Firebase, Google Maps, etc. so even if you manage to download the app via APKPure, you might not be able to use the app
@sajidifti4 жыл бұрын
@@raps8691 I've no problem with that. I already use alternatives for years. Maps work without GMS. I use Outlook for mail. And KZbin most of the time in third party YT apps. So I can live without Google apps

Is call of duty and pupg available on huawei app store?

Actually gmail can be used on a email Client , google maps is available on APK pure , the only issue is KZbin.

I'm getting tired of closed ecosystems, and I don't want to jump from one to another. I want to know that no company or government gets to decide what I can and can't access. That's why I've started moving away from Android and desktop apps as a whole, and started using webapp alternatives. I still end up using a lot of Google services, though, and it really frustrates me how they build their webapps to be so much worse than their native apps, but that's also a good incentive to find alternatives to youtube, gmail, google maps, etc.

I have been utilizing Google for many years. But being forced to choose, I'm going with Huawei. If Googel services isn't easily useable on my new Huawei P40, I won't bother with installing Google Play. I just find other applications. When I next buy a tablet, probably Huawei Matepad with 5G, I may not have Netflix and KZbin anymore. If you force me to choose, I will always go for the other side!

The main concern with Huawei smartphones: 1.) It doesn’t have Google Services 2.) The flagship hardware is as par as IPhone/Samsung but much more expensive 3.) The marketing is very aggressive yet so bland

Recently bought a huawei Y5P model. I could clearly seen how Google stop Huawei from using everything under its platform. KZbin , google maps , google translate and you name it. I can't even sign in using my google account. It is a total different world there. Not to mention whatsapp facebook all left blank. Luckily Im able to download the apk from PC, save the apps inside the SD card then install into the phone and it still works! only a bit awkward though.

Whatever product that has a potential 1B customers (locally) back it up, it would succeed. Developers would be diving in for development.

Love the video, just bought the p40 pro. Not put off by apps. I don’t rely on google and see this issue as a positive challenge to resolve. We need alternatives to the big boys. Keep up the great work.

Besides plenty of ways to get some of the apps that are not available in the AppGallery - e.g. www.apkmirror.com

Great Video. This is why I still think that it is wise for Samsung to revisit its plan to have their own OS. You can make a review on that, to see what they did, where they reached, and why or how or where they fail. I think it will a great review so long as competition always brings improvement in the quality of services and products being offered rather than a monopoly where people don't have freedom of choice. Currently, the smartphone world is dominated by DUOPOLY, where a client can either choose iOS or GMS which isn't healthy in the service industry when considering the welfare of clients.

I was so happy with my P20 Pro. I've been using it for almost 2 years. Then this happened, so last year I decided to switch... to Apple lol ^_^ I agree with the points that you made in this video. I love Huawei so much! The hardware is fantastic. I was just so concerned with the usability back then.

I hope they can, and believe they will survive. It's over to them to build an independent, yet easy to use and familiar looking OS and ecosystem, this unfortunately will take some time. Not because they lack software, but because it takes time for key players to adopt. Take Google Pay as a KEY feature, how long can it take for Huawei to get a system up and running similar to Google/Apple Pay? Not very long, but it will take quite a while for banks, retailers and other key players to adopt it. This is what I'm waiting for.
