Fun fact from an ex-bowling alley employee! Most house balls actually don's have cores, so doing the curve/spin method doesn't work as well towards hitting strikes, cause you usually do want to hit the side of the 1 pin. But not having a core lessens the natural spin, so it makes this WAY harder to do without said custom ball. A 198 bowling curl on a house ball is really good actually.

I threw 226 with a house 10 ball once in my teens, with a terrible hook method i seen some random guy doing, back when i used to play all the time, i had no idea about the cores in the balls, or the lack thereof back then. I only played a handful of times randomly in about 15 years, birthdays or other family events, definitely no more than 4-5 times in that 15 years. Fast forward through that 15 years... i just bought my first "hook ball" about a month ago, been bowling every other day or so since, 2-4 games each day, threw a 205 with it, my 5th game having it, using a house 10 for spares, then i bought a dedicated plastic ball for spares, and another resin reactive ball, which is much stronger than my first. Im now, 30ish games later throwing 175+ consistently, and have had 4 more 200+, 211, 213, 216, and 219. 😅 Still havent reached my all time best yet, or even 225, which is the next milestone. Im definitely getting better each time i go, i imagine ill have a lucky game at least once in my first year, getting that first 300 benchmark, considering im throwing 200+ at this point almost everyday i go, at least 1 game, just in my first month. Im not worried about it though, and i dont let it get to me when im on a roll, no nervousness or anything. it'll happen when it happens. Could take years, but i dont think it will.

As a bowler, I can testify that a 300 game is difficult to achieve
@ivimarty6 ай бұрын
getting a perfect 300 game is so hard that even prop bowlers who bowl every day of their lives can struggle for it. there’s many factors that go into it the lane itself, the oil pattern, how much oil is actually on the lane itself and specifically what ball are you using on that lane . not to mention the lane can change drastically after only one game bowled on it. the same line you’re using to strike one game is not gonna be the same line the next game there’s so many micro adjustments on bowling which makes it super hard
@brayden_cambier10 ай бұрын
been bowling for years, have 6 bowling balls of my own, have yet to break 285…the main reason it’s so difficult is because after you bowl a shot a specific way, you can’t do it that exact way over and over again because as your ball picks up oil, the pattern will change. and it’s just hard to stay that consistent for 12 strikes in a row.

Bowling scores only seem low because you have to chain good scores after strikes to get a good score. If you knock down 9 pins every time you bowl you only get like 90 points. Getting a strike then a 9 is way better than getting a strike then a 0 and making up for it later because the two throws after your strike get added on to your strike score.
