Those ferries only fitting 70 people on them is absolutely daft. You can fit hundreds of people on a regular ferry, idk why the devs have made them carry less people than a flippin bus

it is the same with all of the public transport. the standard busses have what, 30 passengers? in hamburg, germany, we cram 100 to 120 into the non bendy ones, depending on the situation.

In the city I am at, 30 is a reasonable sitting capacity for the bus, and 50 is what you could probably fit if you pushed people’s patience and personal space boundaries to their max. Any tighter, and people would probably start murdering each other. Which, I guess explains the difference. Americans are used to (and desire) a lot of personal space, even in many cities.

If Biffa fixes the town with mods after he's done with it, he could install the improved transportation mod and manually give more ferry space to one. Or just download a heavy capacity ferry off the workshop. Something with 250 or 300 passenger would do fine.

With literally half of the population living on the island I'd suggest another way of crossing over to the mainland. Ideally a train or a metroline. That one underground road will struggle with the demand even after the intial rush of people moving in since most of the people living on the island will have to commute to the industry area over on the mainland.

Isle of Roy has half of the city density, yet has no self-production of any materials, so all the food and goods for the commercial buildings is cramming the underwater tunnel. IR: Isle of Roy. Mainland: ML. As a self declared inhabitant of the Isle of Roy with a daily commute to Mulberry Heights for work (which gets me to spends hours in the traffic or waiting for the ferries, great for podcasts, not for the family), I start the petition for the expansion of connectivity between ML and IR, proposing: 1-The expansion of the underwater tunnel (It would be great to give it it's own name as a pride of the city). 2- The reconstuction of the entryway of the underwater tunnel, as it's currently way too crammed for it's usefulness. 3- A Cargo Hub on the IR to facilitate the delivery of imports. This would help both lower the rate of trucks on the Underwater Tunnel and the self-sustainability of IR. Althought I worry it may bring all the trucks on the city to the IR for their exporting needs... 4- New ML ferry ports near Bredley Heights and/or Crest Heights. There is a big bottleneck on the only ferry spot which connects us to the ML. Almost 20k citizens crammed into a single ferry spot without even counting the tourists. New ferrys on the west and east of the city would help aliviate this, reducing the bottleneck near the underwater tunnel, while also allowing for the implementation of more ferrys and greater connectivity. Anyways, Im just a worker with opinions so Im sure not everything is possible or even feasible, but one can hope for the better. Good luck, Mayor Biffa!. Now in all seriousness. Great video as always! Im suprised so many citizens where able to fit on the space while looking good. For the height of the ferry stops, I imagine them using elevators to bring the passengers to level lol.

I think that the Island must be pedestrian (because there isn't a ferry for cars in C:S)! A long tunnel is a bit unrealistic! I totally agree with other points and I will also add a small airport for domestic flights! Maybe also a cruise ship terminal for tourists!

@@hanzzel6086 I don't think so! For example the island of Lampedusa in Italy has a very small INTERNATIONAL airport, a ferry terminal, a cargo harbour and definitely not a tunnel! And it has only 6.000 inhabitants! Never underestimate the huge amount of tourist demand for connections!

train station and metro would work with a little bit of tuneling, train has capacity and does not use a lot of space. Connecting Island and mainland reducing traffic.

Dear Biffa, you might want to just have ferries go back and forth from those 2 stops at the Isle o' Roy so you don't waste as many ferries and travel time. Beyond that, I do hope your next grid you unlock will be south of that "down town"/skyscraper area which will also help with connectivity to the highway. And maybe another underwater tunnel from the left side (the non-down-town side of the coast) too? Like right around the connection with the highway there. That would take a lot of stress from the center of your city.

For the new square: definitely a nice big campus, and also maybe a really nice looking motorway junction. The entrance road towards Isle of Roy could maybe use some slip roads, so people don't need to wait at the traffic lights. Great video. And thank you for learning me how to create a perfect city.

I love having trams in my cities, I don't think I've ever done a skylines map without them. Living in Melbourne, Australia I always have to use the Melbourne tram mods, looks so much better than vanilla 😂

So, the Ferry problem could be solved with a dual ferry terminal next door to a bus depot. Unfortunately, the Bus to Ferry terminal has its disadvantages. With the dual pier terminal, you could do a CW ferry and a CCW ferry and double the number of ferries.

08:17 the classic mistake in vanilla. When playing in vanilla, any building that might generate a lot of traffic such as stadiums and stations for example should ALWAYS be placed in a cul-de-sac so that the pocket cars don't foul up the main/through roads as they spawn

I'm no expert but I'd like to suggest a train line to the isle of Roy for passengers or even for freight if possible. The layout of the island is very similar with Venice at least when I looked it up on Google earth. And one thing I noticed in Venice was that they have this BIG, like a really train station probably to cater tourists. And I think it would be nice to add more commercial zoning to the island? Unless you have an already preset vision for the island, making it a sort of tourist hub is a very interesting idea since many countries in the world do it. But yeah, anyways nice video.

Just catching up on vids, on the Isle of Roy how about a Y shaped pedestrian bridge where the canals meet at the t junction so that pedestrians can get easily between the three parts of the island.

one way you can address the height issues for the ferries is to give the map more water sources. i did that once and it helped in a similar situation.

Why is the Isle of Roy so high up off the waterline? There's more space from the water to the edge of those canals than from the ground to the top of some of the larger buildings on the island; it's three or more stories high! It seems a little bit ludicrous given that you're trying to load stuff from and onto vessels on the water through those immense canal ways.

New area with its fertile land would be best used with agriculture industry I think. Dotted with small cottages here and there. Nevertheless the university campus may be what the city needs the most.
