uwu I like Dunn, but I want to see her play her true position - left forward. For me, Rose was better. Rose broke lines, held possession, controlled the pace, attacked brilliantly and decisively, and gave some great passes into dangerous areas. She was the heartbeat I felt. Dunn made things look easy, and the times she was beat, she recovered. No goals came through anyone she was marking during the entire tournament. And that’s not even her true position!! But I don’t want to judge her as a true defender, because she isn’t one. (A true defender shouldn’t miss tackles and then have to recover.)

Sargon of Cincinnati I disagree. Diani got 2-3 crosses off in the first 10 minutes..,but after that, Dunn locked the door. Dunn was shutting Diani down so much that France moved Diani to a central position for most of the second half. Dunn got ‘beat’ a few times, but recovered every time. In the England game, one cross got past her that England actually converted. On that ball though, I thought another US player should have covered the gap; I forget who it was though. A defender’s job is to prevent the other team from scoring. Dunn allowed no goals during the entire tournament. Other defenders missed/lost their marks, and/or gave away passes that resulted in goals (Spain goal = keeper/defender error). I’ll agree that she’s not the most efficient defender, but she gave away no goals. Other defenders did.

As others have said Rose and Tobin Heath were excellent during this 2019 world cup. Both were skilful, attack minded and creative in possession. Alex Morgan was disappointing after a great start. The USA were the best team in the tournament and that's coming from me, a Brit. It's just a shame that their great achievements were somewhat hijacked by Rapinoe's spat with President Trump.

She said it's ok for Trans to join your team and take positions away from women. If Trans have enough interest then they can have their own league. She can do that on her own time after her playing days are over. To the veterans, show by example and remember you have some great young players with great skills. It doesn't matter who scores, as long as you do. A shot on goal is just a pass past the goalkeeper. It can't go through a player and if it's not there then fake shot, fake shot, fake shot until it is there. A defender has no choice but to react to a fake shot. It will take them off balance and open a lane for you. And to all defenders and mids - Always know where their goalkeeper is. Assuming you have practiced, take the long drive once in a while. It will keep them closer to their net and make it harder to support their defenders. Coach - would love to help you in the future - And have a chat with M.R. to stop with the whining on every call and play like Messi.
