I begin the process of trying to dismantle the engine to be able to fit a kick start to my engine that didn't have one as standard. Never done this before so expect learning opportunities on the way !!

Hi Ryan excellent video again and as long as you are happy carry on doing things however you are able. Thank you for your entertaining thoughts and it will be worth it in the end. Keep safe and happy.

I am shouting no no no stop Ryan lol when undoing that tight bolt. I would tighten back up a little the gradually back and forth . With plenty oil release oil .

Hi Jim bo, thank you for your comment, for some reason that I can't understand I've only just seen this., so sorry for the very slow acknowledgment. Ryan

so glad you didnt have snapped bolt 2.0, Ryan .... relieved for you. that's another 24 minutes that absolutely flew by, good watching and I have my fingers crossed that it was just the stator causing the non running

Glad that engine didn't fall over, your steel toecap safety sandals don't look up to the job! 😉 Impact guns... aren't they great, you just reminded me I must get one!
@RyansGarageUK2 жыл бұрын
Lol, I was risking my toes but that was about 34 Degrees so I made the decision not to die of heat exhaustion. The impact gun was one of my better purchases. 👍🏻

Usually if you turn the engine over on the generator the barrels will lift off with the motion of the pistons. Great video as usual

Hi Pete, that is was I was expecting and that did happen on the other engine, but this one is well and truly stuck fast. 😀

Good video but you dont need to take the top end of unless there was some damage ? to get into the bottom end , removed the oil pump drive chain , flip it over and remove all the lower crank case bolts , the lower case will now come of . ive done it many times .
@RyansGarageUK2 жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you. I did know it wasn't necessary to remove the top end off, but I wanted to make turning over the engine easier by creating a flatter surface to prevent it from rolling over. Now it"s being stubborn I'll go ahead as it is for now. Ryan.

Hey mate if you want to remove the cylinder try putting some automatic transmission in them and let them set for a few days
@RyansGarageUK2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Robert, I'll consider that if I'm stuck and needing it off. Cheers Ryan

Hi Ryan, don't know if you've done a compression test on that engine. If not it might be worth cleaning and lapping the valves. Old engines that haven't been used for a while can get corrosion on the valve seats that stops them sealing properly.
@RyansGarageUK2 жыл бұрын
Hi Colin, I hadn't compression tested it, but I can see the valves look fairly coked up, so I was intending on giving them a good service whilst it was all apart. Thanks Ryan

Wd 40 is not penetrating fluid duck oil is 👍
@RyansGarageUK2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I wasn't previously aware of the Duck Oil product, it seems that claim the same properties as WD40, but I'll see if I can pick up a can and give it a try sometime.

Do you need to split the cases for kick start??
@RyansGarageUK2 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, yes the internals are apparently attached to the inside of the lower half of the engine case. Hoping I can split it without damage.

@@RyansGarageUK I know you can do it mte

Oh my goodness, would love to add something constructive, not sure where to start. Get yourself a breaker bar & cheater pipe to start with, abuse of torque wrench isn't a good idea. Levering against mating surfaces = very bad things happening later on

Hi Andy, I think that all your points are valid, and I'm trying to increase my tools selection when time and funds allow. Please understand I'm very much learning from my mistakes, although all constructive feedback is very welcome. Thank you. Ryan.
