Since I had so much fun on the trails in Bentonville, AR, which featured many smaller and larger jumps, I decided I wanted to try to get over my fear of jumping and improve the little form that I had. Since the Golden pump tracks have plenty of table top jumps that are good for practicing on, I spent a few hours there just playing around and getting some good tips from the locals.
The Golden pump tracks are located to the east of North Table Mountain, which is located just outside of Golden, CO.

Thanks for sharing your progression sprocket girl! If I may make a suggestion, I noticed you're not preloading/compressing right before the lip of the tabletop. This will help immensely. Plenty of good GMBN videos on jumping too. 😊 👍🏻

Thanks for the tip! I wasn't sure how much to preload, and erred on the side of less because I was feeling hesitant. Next time I'll try to focus more on that, though!

Love doing that ride hitting North Table AND the pumps and jumps. I have the same fear of jumps although I feel like I'm always going fast enough but at the last second I reflexively squash the jump, like I'm riding rollers instead of tables lol.

I totally hear you! I'm still working on keeping my speed up and not being afraid of the jump, too. Just keep practicing and you'll get there some day (telling that to myself, too :) ).

The small dirt jumps (and even slopestyle course) at the frisco bike park are very forgiving and easy to learn on.

Two great places to practice jumping in the Denver/Boulder area are Valmont Bike Park in Boulder and Erie Singletrack in Erie. The Small slopestyle line at Valmont is about perfect for learning how to jump a full sus MTB. Erie is more high speed jump lines like you would see at a proper lift access park, but still quite forgiving of casing and all of it is rollable. I personally find Erie is great practice before heading up to Trestle.

Thanks for the tip! I was at Valmont once before I started my channel (loved it), but have never been to Erie. I'll have to check it out! Does Erie have as many people as Valmont on a weekend?

@@SprocketGirl Erie is dead almost all the time. It is a wonderful jump line and an easy climb to get in as many laps as you want. Yall should head there as soon as you can.

Hey! I was just at the golden bike park last Tuesday evening and it was actually great how many women were out! I was with one other girl and there were quite a few others that were kicking my butt and clearing all the jumps. It was my last ride before all of our bikes got stolen on Thursday :( We lost 4 bikes total, it was a horrible loss. Maybe I'll see you at the bike park if they turn up, we need more girls out there!!

I'm basically doing the same thing! I'm commiting to myself to go out to the local jump trail 3 times a week to session a couple jumps over and over. Started last night and made some good progress, but I want to cement that feeling. When I came home I re-watched hours of jump tutorials on KZbin. I pick up a little nuance each time. Often it isn't even what they say, but I focus on what I see them do. Working to translate what I see into what I feel.

Nice job! That's great that you're going out there so often! I'm sure you'll make a lot of progress in a short amount of time! I'm keeping it up, too, but haven't been out there as much as you have 🙂

Thanks for sharing and hope you keep us updated on your progression. You can certainly learn to jump on your own, with time, research and dedication. You might also consider a professional lesson, whether in a group or individual setting. A lesson could really speed up your progress, provide a controlled setting and help ensure your bike is setup properly. Also, don't ever let a full face helmet be an afterthought. Most of all, have fun...

I’m learning too. Check out the How to Jump videos by Rich Drew as I found that he explains and breaks it down really well. He’s actually from Bentonville, but was in Denver a few weeks ago teaching a skills clinic and jump clinic and both were incredibly helpful!

Try to squash into the lip and let the bars come up to your hips and then just float it, but your progression is great👍 👌.

Well done you. I would like to know what size handle bar are you using? I am new to all this mountain biking, but I am glad I found our videos. I bought bike with 780mm handle bar (I am 5,4" feet or 1,62m) but felt it's not for me, changed to 700mm and crashing in to everything I can. 780mm I felt more control over the bike.

Tables are fun to jump and that first time you clear one is so satisfying, my jumps got Okay when I was in Sunpeaks but it's easier cuz its park. All the flow before the jump gets your mind in the right place plus I biked Canada line 5 time in a row on my Demo 8, even got the step up 😃

Watch yourself at 2:53. You are using your arms and very little hips. Use your hips and legs more to pre load just before the take off. Next to think about is once you pre load the bike coming in to the jump, is to stand taller. you are still absorbing a lot of energy with you legs and squashing the potential energy that the lip is giving you.
