My father and uncle are the original owners of this ride. They retired in 2009. I don't know much about it, but my understanding is that the swing was left outside that winter and the engine got water in it leaving it ruined. Some other owner must have got those engine parts hoping to fix it. Not sure if that's possible. The first new owner was going to convert the engine to electric so I don't think the condition mattered to them. Maybe my dad can help answer any questions you might have. P.S. It's probably easier to remove the seats before trying to get at the engine with a big piece of machinery. 😆

I rode that ride back in the 70s when Montana Brothers came to Tobyhanna Pa. My brother would grab my swing before the ride got going and twist my seat .The operator would tell us to knock it off .Good times .

Omg!!!! I rode this so many times when I was a kid. The Montana Bros were from the Scranton Pa area as a small carnival company in the 70s 80s and 90s. I can't believe it still is around. They had many other rides as well.

Definitely. A cold start will never lie. They just sound unique, we like long videos around here so I don’t mind hour or an hour and a half video, if there’s music, I’ll just get past all the music since I can’t see what the heck is going on anyhow I just listen since I’m visually impaired. 30 minutes is a great video length. Not to mention it’s in my history so I can always come back to it. Wonder what international harvester called that one? A carnival truck?

I'm surprised you Didn't take off the Engine and Had it sent to get the magneto repaired/fixed over the Winter time. Then Put the Swing away just without the Engine on it. It would Save alot of time Come Spring/Summer time, When You go to Pull it out. Most likely by that Time Have the Engine back and with a fixed/repaired magneto

Did you check the points? Even though it's a mag, anything over a single cylinder usually has points (unless it's some really old weird mag). Would be a shame to send it off just to get the points sanded and set.

It is possible on some motors to fit the pump incorrectly and miss the cam. you need to make sure you get the arm in the correct position running on the cam. Not saying this is the case but worth checking.
