Yeah this is very entertaining! Also, as a German, I agree that the Ruhrgebiet is a terrible mess of cities blending into each other. Would be happy to see you try it again at some point

Cam here to say this. Waiting for Banja Luka the whole video. Disappointing.

20:05 Its probably not in the spirit of this game, but you could see the names of the Autobahn exits here, so you could see this city is Bochum and not Essen with every exit named Bochum or BO.

I decided to leave road labels in on this one, in case people know something about road labels for a country.

Would totally watch the sequel, maybe getting as far as Essen again off camera or sped up? Great video 😊

The Ruhrgebiet is hard even if you're German. It's such a mess as you get smaller like between Bottrop, Castrop-Rauxel, Oberhausen, etc..
@fubini_yt14 күн бұрын
It gets somewhat easier if you live in this area and have to take the Autobahn to get to these cities 😅

I love the running joke of calling Zagreb "Zagreeb" 😅

Very engaging, indeed. Would have been a huge help to have a 10km circle tracking with your mouse/zoom so you had an idea of scale.

You did good! I would fail on Germany with their Cologne-Essen-Dortmund line

Great work! I think its very funny how you use subdivisions to work these out! Also, I’m pretty sure this quiz has left out Manchester, possibly because it’s counted as a county ‘Greater Manchester’, but so is London which was on here. Greater Manchester had 2,900,000 people and Essen has 500,000 haha

were the cities in order of population? bc it's weird that Lisbon and Porto at least didn't appear (ofc i notice this bc im portuguese)
@jakelyonsgeo15 күн бұрын
They were, so it’s probably an oddity in how the populations are counted, idk
@jorgepereira4415 күн бұрын
It only counts the city population (not the metropolitan area). If you look at wikipedia Lisbon only has 567k inhabitants (Porto has even less with 248k) where Essen has slight more with 582k inhabitants. So Lisbon probably would be the next one.
@whatever411113 күн бұрын
I do wonder what order they were in. Gothenburg came before Helsinki, yet has a smaller pop no matter if you count urban area or municipality.

A lot of people have broken their teeth on The Ruhr. For me, it's the black hole of Europe when it comes to telling them all apart. I know my African geography better than I know The Ruhr.

You should do a series on how to region guess for each country. Ireland for exanple is relatively easy to know its ireland but hard to region guess imo! Would be interesting to see your insight for each country and maybe do a tier list from easiest to hardest at the end of the series! Love the videos :)

5:00 you keep talking about how these ones so far are easy as you casually find Russian cities i would have a hard time finding with labels (the others yeah, but i am absolutely terrible with Russia lol)

@alexj960313 күн бұрын
For me as a German it was painful to watch you struggling with even Stuttgart and Leipzig. I'm pretty sure I would have been able to locate even the smaller cities in the Ruhrgebiet. On the other hand i would have lost the game way earlier on the first Russian city after Moscow...
