Can I make $10,000 at RETRO RICK'S CONVENTION?!?

I recently have come to realization of two things. These two things are that I need to move out of my crusty old trailer and that I am done selling at video game conventions. I recently went to Retro Fest in Arkansas or some may know it as ‪@retrorick‬ Con. My goal is to make at least 3000 dollars profit. Let's see if I can actually make this happen.

10k is super hard to do out of a single booth. I think most i've done in a single booth is around 5k and I was stacked with good stuff, on a double i've done $11k but seriously slashed prices and made a wholesale cash out on day 2. I didn't even get a chance to see your booth I think you were hiding behind gametower from where I was. Sunday was super slow at the con slower than normal if it wasn't for horse trading between vendors sunday would have been rough. Sundays on 2 day cons are almost always 1/3 sales of saturday, this held true for me at retro rick con. It was awesome to meet everybody from across the US and canada (retrocartcollector)

@@Retrobash80 oh dude I think my best has been like 2400 hahaha!! Yeah Sunday was super slow for me and all I could hold onto was making trades! That helped a ton because it put faster moving stuff into inventory . Traded lots of my clothes for games as well ! Retrocart is such a good dude

I think you really need to check your finances if you want to come out of a vending at a convention. You didn't state your exact numbers, but guessing you sold $2000 worth of product. You paid probably somewhere between $500 and $1000 for it, so lets say $750 was your COGS (cost of goods sold), so after you take out the $600 in convention expenses (gas, hotel, table cost, parking), you're actually only up $650, and essentially made 32.5% margin on your $2k of product. But instead if you had taken that same $2000 of product, and sold it online and selling fees and shipping likely cost you 20% of the sale price (I think ebay is avg 13.5% or so) , you'd make $850 for 42.5% margin. Which makes selling at conventions a bad choice for most of your inventory. More realistically, your COGS is at least 50% (like your trade in scenario in this vid) meaning if you sold $2k of items which cost you $1k to source, paid $600 in convention fees, you actually took home $400 (20% margin) vs selling locally/online and making $600 (30% margin) If you want to hit $10,000 you're better off selling outside of conventions. If you want to create content and mix it up with other creators, the keep going! Have fun either way!
