Hmm I wonder if you had mixed a bit of the powder in your diluted modge podge? Interesting.

I hadn’t thought of that, but wiping off the excess mod podge might have the same result. But since I was using the gloss mod podge, I wonder if I could just seal it and see how it dried without wiping off the extra. Thanks for watching!!

This was my thought

Or maybe clear glue and a smaller paintbrush or something

@@DiamondPaintingAnonymous try to do your technique to your drills you want to have mica then use spray modge podge the gloss. This may work
@crystalklenot6292 ай бұрын
@DiamondPaintingAnonymous i meant put your wanted amount in specific place carefully with small tipped eye brush from makeup, then very gently wipe off only where you didn't want the mica then spray seal it.

Daphne, thank you for taking one for the team 😂 Experiments rock!

They do! I love learning new things, even if they don’t work how I thought they would!!

Thanks for the experiment! My thought would be to use a spray sealant to prevent the brush moving the mica powder around.
@DiamondPaintingAnonymous8 ай бұрын
That is another option I’m considering! Thanks for watching!!

Thank you so much for the experiment. I was wondering about doing the same thing. I might try the clear spray to see.

I may try it as well. Thanks for watching!!

Hmmmm....great experament...i was also wondering about mixing it into sealer....tfs sharing

I may have to try that with a different kit and see if it works. Thanks for watching!!

Thanks for showing us this. I love learning a lot about this topic. I would like to ask if you can do a video on how you store your completed canvases. I need some ideas other than storing them under my bed where no one can see them😕

I have done a video on that and you can find it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/poLThJdsrNWBsLM Thanks for watching!!

I have never seen the fairy diamonds. I add a small amount of white glitter to the diamond painting sealer from craft buddy which now they have released their own glitter sealer to make the diamond painting have just abit more sparkle in the finished diamond paintings.

Oh, I’ve not seen that! I’ll have to check it out. Thanks for watching!!

I wonder if the mica powder would look better in different colors that you said are available. I can see that using white mica powder wouldn’t quite look right on the dark colors. Thanks for sharing your experiment!
@DiamondPaintingAnonymous8 ай бұрын
Yep, I didn’t like the white in the darker colors at all. Thanks for watching!!

Coincientially I am going to be working on a project this summer that I want to use all fairy/pixie dust drills. There is one color that is not made in fairy dust and I can't find a good substitute. So may have to give mica power a try. Thanks for sharing.

Oh, interesting. Thanks for watching!!

Very interesting idea. I wonder if you put a thin layer of modpog down on the areas you want the fairy dust first, then sprinkle the micro powder on before it dries. Then another thin layer after. If that would work 🤔
@DiamondPaintingAnonymous8 ай бұрын
It might! Thanks for watching!!
@jackieunger57138 ай бұрын
It was a great idea and I think it could work. I wonder if there was something to brush over the drills first to make the micra stick and then seal it. I really like how the micra fills in the gaps between the drills. I need to try that. Thank you again!

Lots of good ideas in the comments - I should have asked you all first! Thanks for watching!!

I wonder if dabbing the ModPodge rather than brushing would work? I like the idea of the spray sealant but you could be limited to when you can do that as I believe the fumes can be quite potent.
@DiamondPaintingAnonymous8 ай бұрын
Could be, but since it’s spring/summer, I could maybe spray outside. Thanks for watching!!
@dhruts_shah8 ай бұрын
An experiment part 2 could be to brush the mica on the drills then use a spray gloss sealer and not wipe down that may retain more of the fairy dust effect.
@DiamondPaintingAnonymous8 ай бұрын
Oh, that’s a good idea! Thanks for watching!!
@marshah59308 ай бұрын
Great experiment! I wonder if you sealed with a clear spray instead of brushing it on?
@DiamondPaintingAnonymous8 ай бұрын
I've had several suggestions of that - I didn't think about a spray sealer. I'll have to go search for one! Thanks for watching!!

Nice video, thanks for the idea! Mabey it is a stupid question, but what happens when you do some of the Mica Powder into the mod podge before you put that on the painting? So that you have a glitter mod podge? Will that work also?
@DiamondPaintingAnonymous8 ай бұрын
I didn’t think of that! Thanks for watching!!
@gretchenkunde91208 ай бұрын
I came to the comments to suggest that as well. I'm interested in seeing how that would look. If it works with the white mica, but it looks like it changes the darker colors too much, that could be a good time to mix some of the mod podge with the colored mica powder and use a small paint brush to brush those areas.
@ruthforget2538 ай бұрын
It was worth a try! I was also wondering if maybe mixing the mica with the mod podge would work?
@DiamondPaintingAnonymous8 ай бұрын
That would certainly make it more likely to stay than the way I did it, but I would still be wiping off some of it, I think. Thanks for watching!!
@marilynb05098 ай бұрын
Love experiments! Like another commenter, I wondered if clear gloss spray sealer would work? No wiping. People say spray sealers don’t hold drills well because thinner but you’re sealing mica powder, not popping drills. Would be hard to do on camera though. :/
@DiamondPaintingAnonymous8 ай бұрын
I may try that and/or mixing the mica into the sealer and see how that works. Thanks for watching!!
@bevjones74858 ай бұрын
Daphne nice try with the mica powder. I learned that if I’m careful I can seal after I use mica powder for cracks. I thought it might just pull all out when I did. Thank you for that. I wonder if you applied a sealer and waited till it was just tacky if the mica power then applied would stick and not clump? Another experiment?😂 Thank you for the experiment and answering one of my questions. Peace and love abide with you 💕

Everyone has definitely given me more ideas on ways to approach this - I think another try at this is in order. Thanks for watching!!

How about using extreme glitter mod podge? That might put on the glitter that you want in one step as you’re going to mod podge it anyway.
@DiamondPaintingAnonymous8 ай бұрын
That’s an option, but glitter has different look than the mica powder. Thanks for watching!!
