Jack, here are some great tips I’ve used for naming as many countries as possible: - Name all countries that are initials; UK, USA, UAE, CAR DRC(+Republic of the Congo) - Name all countries similar in some way; (Israel/Palestine/Vatican City are all religious countries, Oman/Yemen sound similar, same with Paraguay/Uruguay, Iraq/Iran/Syria, and Kazakhstan/Kyrgyzstan/Turkmenistan/Uzbekistan/Azerbaijan/Tajikistan/Afghanistan/Pakistan, Niger/Nigeria, Zimbabwe/Zambia, Guinea/Papua New Guinea) - Name all south/north countries; (N/S Korea, North Macedonia, Sudan/South Sudan) - Follow a line on the world map, start at one country and try to name the countries connecting to it, it is best to start with Eurasia or Africa is what I’ve discovered.

Great video Jack, as usual. For many countries you can write shorter versions. For example: Dominican republic = DR. North Korea = DPRK. Also, on Jetpunk, you don't need to write the full country name. For example it gives you Trinidad, St Kitts, Antigua, St Vincent. But not on Sporcle for some reason.

In addition there are 2 observer states, the Holy See (Vatican City) and Palestine. Taiwan and Kosovo are not part of the UN, but are usually represented on these quizzes. The one that is sometimes excluded is Palestine.

hi jack! i am a fan who is surinamese and surinamese people are the best! suriname was from the netherlands, but now is independent. surinamese food also is the best for example: roti, saoto soep, pom, baka bana, bara, surinaamse pastei. my grandmother is surinamese and moved to the netherlands so i dont know that much about how it is to live in suriname, i just went there one time, but i do am proud to have surinamese blood! btw i love this series and every time you make an episode i want to learn all the countries in the world as well, there are just so much more countries than you think! i got 42 procent (83/197) right for my first try on the world so i think that is pretty good!

Tip for Oceania when you get to it, all the countries are in pairs/couples in how they're pronounced. Australia and New Zealand are the obvious ones, Papua New Guinea & Micronesia, Nauru & Palau, Vanuatu & Tuvalu, Samoa & Tonga, Fiji & Kiribati, Solomon Islands & Marshall Islands. Hope that helps!!

Try to divide them up into sections like you did with the ones in the box. So all of the mainland central American countries together, the small islands and the big islands. Finish one section then move on. You can practice the same strategy for africa. Focus on west Africa first, get it somewhat down, then move on to north Africa, then east and so on. It always helps memory to compartmentalize and divide..similar to learning vocabulary in a new language.
