Can I pass the Russian tests on Duolingo? Part 2

I continue my amazingly frustrating journey through the tests in Duolingo. The most pedantic site on earth.
It wasn't too difficult this site but I still failed once because of the pedantic answers. I realized afterwards that for the question about losing keys I thought the verb was written another way so it was actually wrong. Or writing 5 instead of "five".

Hello there! I corrected some of the mistakes you made throughout the video. *What you meant to say in English - What you said in Russian - What you should've said:* will do even worse - буду делать ещё хуже - справлюсь ещё хуже [1] I always don't know - я всегда не знаю - я никогда не знаю [2] kill me please - убей меня пожалуйста - убейте меня пожалуйста [3] I can't write - я не могу писать - я не умею писать [4] [1] Maybe there is a better way to translate this, but what I'm 100% sure of is that the word-for-word translation won't work here. [2] Remember that, unlike English, Russian allows (and usually prefers) the double negation. [3] The use of "убей" implies that you're speaking to ONE person. But since you're actually talking to your entire audience, you should go with the plural "убейте". [4] Probably that's just me, but "не могу" sounds like you can't write because somebody forbade you to, or because you're too busy to write right now. "Не умею" literally means "I'm unable to...", but the word you are actually looking for may be "разучился писать" - "un-learned how to write". This would imply that you do know how to write, but you've lost your touch because you didn't do it for a long time. *Pronunciation* 1) рубашка великА, not велИка 2) носЫ, not нОсы 3) The plural of "сестра" is "сёстры". You can and probably would write it "сестры", but you should still pronounce it as if there were a "ё". *Miscellaneous* 1) "lost" (feminine) is "потеряла", not "потерила". Duolingo didn't want you to use "was losing" - "теряла", you just spelled "lost" incorrectly. 2) Your answer "стоял и ждал" is correct, another possible way to translate this is to use a деепричастие - "ждал стоя", although I'm not sure if Duo would accept that. 4) Duolingo is pretty inconsistent with numbers. When I do my Japanese lessons, answers like「今は６時です。」would sometimes be accepted and sometimes be corrected into 「今は六時です。」If you want to be safe, it's better to spell the numbers out - "five". 5) Personally, I would use "forgot" for "забыл" if there's no adverb in the sentence and "left" if otherwise. Think of sentences like "Ah, I forgot my keys!" and "Ah, I left my keys at home!". But I might be wrong here, this is just what I think.

Hi thanks, you didn't need to do that. I think the hardest thing to master is always sounding natural. There are no rules that explain it, you just have to memorize how to say most things like a native in different situations. About терять - потерять: I don't know why but I always thought it was "потерить", but I learned after that it's wrong.

It's hard to say because I haven't been studying it the whole time but for at least 3 years.

В русском языке нет конструкций типа "there is/are". Мы просто говорим где, а потом что. "Над машиной - птицы". Иногда добавляется глагол, который зависит от контекста и смысла. "На столе стоят тарелки" - there are plates on the table. Мне немного странно было видеть в этом задании ошибку... это ж базовые знания, должны изучаться в самом начале.

there are plates on the table - на столе тарелки. А что они там делают и почему стоят, если они плоские, это уже совсем отдельная тема, в которую опасно заходить даже нам, носителям
