Can I Prepare for Strive with Guilty Gear Xrd?

Now you know what's funny? I told someone on Twitter I'm just gonna stick to GG: Strive cause I cannot get with Xrd Rev 2 for some reason, and he told me it's gonna help overall. But you've confirmed that Strive is going to feel totally different, only keeping fundamentals of fighting games, which you can learn in every game. Rev 2 is cool, but I joined it way too late to be "good" at it. And seeing as how the flow of battle is going to be a different beast anyways, I'd rather pick up the new one and start fresh.

A friend got xrd while waiting for strive just for us to fuck arround and appreciate the characters that didnt make it and how the game felt casually. Strive will be different and we know it but it was fun to try characters out to see what we would love to see returning as dlc

If you want xrd2 do not buy it on the store but if it's on sale go ahead and buy it on the store. You can buy it $20 physical at GameStop

I played this game at my friends house and loved it. Is the guy (girl in a robot) who can manipulate his projectiles be in strive?

Glad you liked the game! Kum Haehyun is the mech pilot and currently, she hasn't been announced for Strive. But she may be DLC in the future.

It's not that Strive's moving away from the movement and momentum that makes Guilty Gear, Guilty Gear, it's just that the combo structure and pressure is going to be different.

Movement and keeping momentum exist in both games for sure, but all 2D fighting games revolve around those things. To me, Guilty Gear has always been a game about securing knockdowns which lead to scary, looping okizeme and FD/IB being mechanics involved in messing up the aggressor's rhythm and pressure options. Pressure options are definitely being toned down in Strive because of gatlings being a lot more limited, IAD forward being slower, etc. and FD/IB usage seem to revolve more around managing RISC now. Of course, these things may change eventually, but the direction for Strive thus far has given that impression.
