@@ghostkids4 I find the exteriors very beautiful. But I hate closed off floor plans. It feels very impractical to me, and it also makes you feel a bit isolated lol. I love being able to talk to the rest of my family when I’m in the kitchen and they are in the living room or dining room. To add, our old farm houses have very closed floor plans, so it’s not unheard of here just uncommon

@@kermit7139 To me - an European - closed off kitchen is one of the best features of our houses (obviously not always it happens, nowadays we build mostly open or semi-open plans). You know... kitchen smells, is hot, loud, sometimes you have to cook things for many hours, put on coffee machine, range hood? When you cook a lot and don't eat out, live with your whole family who likes to watch TV before dinner, closed off kitchen is damn useful

I like making detached garages in my builds and use them as my flex space for random skill items, but they can be tricky to incorporate, especially if they are attached cause of foundations

I always struggle with the interior decor but really enjoy building shells. I tend to lose inspiration once I get to the inside. or I'll do a really detailed first two rooms, usually an entry or powder room and kitchen, and get bored with it lol

You should be able to move a sim in and select “unfurnished” when they buy the house and it’ll take everything out for you

This house reminds me a lot of my childhood home! Esp since my parents always planned to extend the garage to make a guest room. I tried to build it in the sims before but found it hard since as you say, real floor plans don’t really work in the sims!

i challange you to furnish this house yourslef for a video but with some rules: 1 it has to include a banana themed room for a toddler, a space themed room for girls teen twin, a GREEN masterbedroom. the ensuite has to be purple and blue and all the other bathrooms have to be pink. you can only use the packs: snowyescape, tiny living, island living, cottage living, interior disigner, parenthood and cityliving. good luck. So I do a lot of building from Floorplans and here's 2 things that I find useful. 1 sims tile = 2 rl ft, so if you round up to an even number you should be ok. And secondly, the garage makes a really good activity room. If you build it you can put a lot of the weird activities you might not otherwise use bc they're large. So like the piano, the mix station, the videography thing, the recycling stuff, etc.

Anytime that someone does like a house tour, or apartment tour, it instantly makes me want to create houses in Sims XD I usually search like realtor sites in my area and get inspiration from that :D And I feel you on the cat lol. My cat is like NOPE, YOU'RE PAYING ATTENTION TO ME NOW. And will sit on my lap and demand snuggles. Which is fun because he's a Norwegian Forest cat and he's 20lbs of fluffy and muscle lol.

Huh, I just realized how I tend to do the same thing. Find random house plans online and try to recreate it in the Sims and get frustrated when something doesn’t work/ translate into the sims well. But it still fun to try. HOWEVER, idk why it never occurred to me to try the reverse and take a Sim house and create a 3D model and floor plan. Like in some ways I imagine it to be easier as I wouldn’t be restricted in the same ways that it would be like in the Sims, but at the same time, do Sim’s houses translate well into the real world to scale? I’m sure people have made models of Sim builds before, but I also have the skills and knowledge (tho rusty) to at least attempt this and it would be a good way for me to maintain my 3D modeling skills. It be interesting to see what an accurate representation of a Sim build would be and then after try taking creative liberties to make it fit into the real world aesthetic better. I’m assuming that directly recreating a Sim build into a program like Revit would look odd at first until you rescale things to match how they would look in the real world. Something I should try. I do want to learn SketchUp sometime soon.

What about a build challenge where you have a set amount of time (2-3mins) to "shop" for furniture/lights. Then, you have to build the shell and furnish the house with what you picked out, not being able to go back to purchase other items and needing to use everything you pulled out. Further Info: *During the shopping phase, you can select anything from the build/buy catalogue. If you want more than one of an item, you need to duplicate/pull out as many as you want. Swatches are finalized when the time runs out *If you want a higher difficulty, windows/doors can also be selected during the shopping stage *After the time is up, take as long as you want to build the shell, add wallpaper/flooring, and furnish it using ALL the items you picked out in the shopping stage *Landscape is separately timed (1min), but you cannot arrange it until time is up. Hopefully this all leads to an interesting build~
