Can I RESIST the USA as MEXICO in VICTORIA 3?

Playing as Mexico in Victoria 3 presents an issue. You'll likely need a victoria 3 guide or a victoria 3 mexico guide to try to defeat the USA as Mexico because it's rather tricky. In my case, I played tall to build up our economy, then waited for the victoria 3 american civil war (or triggered it) to try to take victoria 3 texas. Perhaps I should play as texas next time! Victoria 3 war is still a bit iffy.

You've probably figured this out by now, but on the off chance someone sees this that hasn't: Gold mines don't deplete, but gold fields do. And when gold fields deplete, they leave behind unexploited gold mine resources- so every time you see a gold field deplete you can usually build several gold mines to replace it.

In Brazil there are some states that have +20% to mining and +25% to hardwood output. I think you can turn them into economic powerhouse easier than Mexico. Also you can then turn Brazil into military power and try to conquer all of South America instead of going for countries in the midel east and attack evryone around you as you mentioned in the video. Since you will be conquering New Granada anyway you can build the Panama Canal too.

Not sure what kind of 'understanding' I should derive from that besides him only understanding the most basic of basics about the game. He then proceeds to have constant shortages which he periodically worsens and then fixes... I'm sorry, but there has to be a better way than this. I'm not saying he did bad, hell, he did pretty good with his economy and bashing the US, but he is nowhere near the best player this game has as the OP seems to be implying... @@maelos61 only about 5 so yeah sample size is small and im not saying Leith is playing optimal but i just see a lot of ppl struggle and somehow he gets there. Its a bit how he runs EU4 total chaos which is bad, but also manages to save very bad situations. And that imo is just proof he's a good player. Most of the times he's fully aware hes fcking himself up (at least in EU4).

Then again, he hasn't looked up any guide or info on the game by choice, so that's maybe not the kindest comparison. One of the things I dont see you do as much as you could is build your Industry taller in this game. There is a modifier in the game where for every level of an industry in a state past the first one it improves the throughput by 1%. Now that might not seem that impressive but what that means is that if you have say 40 textile mills in a province (preferably your capital because it has increased infrastructure and gov. cap.) the same amount of people use 39% more ressources and produce 39% more clothes. I think at the start of the game the bonus is capped at 20% and is increased by economy of scale techs. With this trick you need less buildings for the same amount of Industry which increases productivity which increases wages (assuming there is a demand for what you are producing).

This is a really good example of somebody running into the population cap and not understanding why his economy struggles. If your buildings have no staff they will not produce goods and if your state does not have enough workers to staff all buildings in it they will start competing for workers. These two facts combined is what stagnated the economy several times here, he focused so much on Infrastructure that he ignored pop and overburdened his states. The issue usually fixes itself over time as Peasents become laborers but that is only if you don't build new stuff.

The annoying thing about passing laws....you can't save scum them either. I think the diceroll for the event (pass or event) is actually rolled at the START of the counter not at the end. I save scummed right before the deliberation was up on a law that had an 81% chance to pass.....got an event instead. Reloaded 5 times, the same event triggered every time. So either I had the worst luck possible, or they specifically designed the system to flip the bird to people trying to save scum laws.

IIRC, the french GDP rises so quickly, because they have a province that functions as a treaty port in india, giving them access to either the india or british market (not 100% sure on which one), which basically allows them to overtake the british as the brits do not have access to the french market.

Little trick: You can convert an economy without tanking it by doing it more granular. In this situation, you could have built a coal mine, a steel plant, and as soon as it opened swap over one of your tool factories to use steel. Then keep doing all three, whichever is more in demand.

Hey Laith, the game profit prediction does not take into account goods substitution, so swapping ranches to slaughterhouses can actually be really profitable because people will veer and use it as their luxury good fulfillment or even basic food fulfillment. Also if you're industrialising like crazy and grain is getting expensive it's 10 times better to kickstart a food industry to funnel your market with groceries that people will eat instead of relying on grain
