Can I S-Rank Last Mission In Advance Wars 1 As Andy? It's actually a lot harder than it sounds. You have to beat the map in 16 days, which is normally done by capturing Eagle's HQ as Sami. This is much harder to do as Andy, as you need to attack it while defending your base from all sides.

One reason I really like AW 1 is because it has animated portraits like in Dual Strike but they are much more expressive and remind me of the Famicom Wars ones.

I really missed the portraits in AW2. One of the few black marks on a great sequel, especially with some of the goofball new characters who would've been great to see animated. I'm not really a fan of the remake art style but AW2 finally getting animated portraits is a big upside.

It's leagues better than the direction Dual Strike went in, where they tried to make everyone look a little more 'realistic'. AW1's style will always reign supreme, but I'll take what we're getting in Reboot Camp over the alternative.

The easiest way to beat this room is to immediately capture Eagle’s HQ by baiting his units away and sending a transport copter to the HQ on a turn Eagle doesn’t build near his HQ. The AI doesn’t build from all bases and tends to build from the top and left bases, leaving all his HQ bases empty for the rest of the game after turn 2-3. If you send only the transport and no offensive units, I think he doesn’t build units because a transport isn’t seen as a threat and a non capping infantry isn’t either.

This is the way. And when you cap their HQ you get all their bases, so it's actually beneficial to let Eagle capture the bases at the bottom. It serves two purposes: (1) draw units away from the HQ and (2) gain extra properties when you take over his HQ

I've only played Dual Strike and AWBW before, so I didn't know what the art style was like in this game before. I think WayForward did a very good job of hitting the same level of whimsy and cartooniness, but in 3D. I didn't really like it when I first saw the trailers, but the vibe is very similar between the two for me. It's nicer in 2D, though.

so if you want exact numbers for AW1 Sami: infantry is 120/110. Double Time boosts her infantry to 154/128 with +1 movement and perfect movement. those weird numbers come from how the global +10/10 boost for powers works in advance wars 1. I have a document with every CO's stats in detail if you want. especially the the AW 1 stats are very interesting. might even make for an interesting video imo

In short, the +10/10 boost for using a power isn't actually a +10/10 boost, it actually ups your base damage output by 10% and reduces your damage taken by 10% too. All your D2D/power boosts multiply off that new base.

@@KopperNeoman yup exactly. in sami's case double time's actual bonus is +20/+10 on infantry which gets her to 140/120 the +10/10 boost then adds 10% relative firepower which in this case is 14% and the 10% defense bonus reduces the remaining damage taken by 10% and with 120 def (which is 80% damage taken), that equals another 8% defense.

Bruh Mangs, you really over estimate AW1 AI. Literally, just rush the HQ. Dont fight over bases. Dont build medium tanks. Rush. The. HQ. You know why? 1. Enemy doesnt guard the HQ well, especially if theres no heavy units and only T copters & infantry 2. You capture HQ, you gain their properties. So now you gain like a 25K income to conquer Sami (no, not like that perverts) You spent too many days dancing around and not being assertive. S ranking the war room is all about "hope" playing. Just hope they dont guard the HQ

Hyper repair can be descent. In PVP for AW@, my friend had this epic moment with it against Eagle. He wanted to wallbreak an infantry but his injured tank couldn't finish it off and his injured Neotank could do the job. He used Hyper repair and used the now 9 HP tank to kill the infantry. A Mech, now 10 HP, walked through the hole and took a shot at his AA. The Neotank, now full HP, went over to a city and shot at a Medium tank on the road. Then a recon went through the hole and hit the enemy artillery. He also took 3 engagements of Tank vs tank in different parts of the map when they were at 8 HP before and now 10 against 10 HP tanks. This also allowed his 5 HP, now 7 HP, fighter to sort of fight against one of the enemy fighters, I'm not sure that was a good idea, it was far away from his 3 battle coptors so the fighter couldn't threaten them immediately, so sacking his 7 HP fighter to weaken the enemy one was probably not the best idea, but it would have been even worse without the repair. So sometimes you just need units above a certain threshold to do certain tasks.

My memory of AW1 is that the AI never uses the infantry to attack. I remember when AW2 came out I was shocked to see enemy AI picking engagements with infantry units. So that's why he didn't interrupt.
