Can I self-study for AP Biology? 8 tips for a successful self-study program

I started an AP biology course, but my teacher has almost finished heredity. What is the best sequence of chapters should I follow to cover all the the lessons I have missed and to catch up with my teacher as soon as possible?

The good news is the later units are covered more on the exam! I'd jump in with where your teacher is, then make a plan to tackle the content you missed from the beginning of the year by studying in order from the beginning for about 20 minutes/day. Of the things you missed, Unit 3, Cellular Energetics (Enzymes, Photosynthesis, and Respiration) is the biggest chunk of the exam, so make sure you dedicate the most time to that Unit. Here's the breakdown on what's tested on the actual exam: Unit 1 - Chemistry of Life 8-11% Unit 2 - Cell Structure & Function 10-13% Unit 3 - Cellular Energetics 12-16% Unit 4 - Cell Communication/Cell Cycle 10-15% Unit 5 - Heredity 8-11% Unit 6 - Gene Expression & Regulation 12-16% Unit 7 - Natural Selection 13-20% Unit 8 - Ecology 10-15%

I am an international student who wants to apply to USA for college and for that I want to give some AP Tests (including biology). Unfortunately I don't have access to the course as most schools in my country do not follow this curriculum. Any tips specifically for international students who may not have access to some of the same resources as American citizens?

Great question! You can still use the released free response questions & college board documentation to practice ad see what's on the test (see links in video description). There is also an old practice exam that is public you can view: apcentral.collegeboard.org/pdf/ap-biology-practice-exam-2013.pdf?course=ap-biology . Gather as many online resources as you can. KZbin is a great place to get great lectures and practice content too!

can i use the 2021 5 to steps to ap biology book for the 2023 test? it’s the only one of these available on amazon, can’t find the 2022/2023 version

Yep! The exam hasn't changed since 2020, so you should be fine using the 2021 book.
