Thanks for all of the comments! As this is a first harvest I am happy to just get all the fruit harvested and sold and not at a loss at the lowest price of the year! It is of course a work in progress and will not be perfect. There is still lots to learn. Actually, we could have sold to a buyer for 150/sack, but then my expenses were almost that for the harvester, packer and sack, plus diesel. So we decided to learn on the job instead and it worked out. Now we have a lot more idea and experience for the future. BTW... Juice/concentrate/export is a great idea... Just needs permits and FDA registration and so on which takes time... Not possible for a first harvest or while volume is much lower and irregular than it will be at full production levels...

600kg is nothing very fast to dispose of. I grow vegetables in Negros and all you do is drive and stop at every market along the way headed north I get rid of 3-5 metric tons of vegetables twice a week.

🫒 What a great 1st harvest, KumanderD!! This video shows an UPBEAT vibe and PROMISING business for your Calamansi farm. 🍸Luv seeing Niehl and Lily with you too. 10:05 Nice to see JERAMI again. Those Portuguese dishes in his resto were mouth-watering. What a CREATIVE guy! And that cocktail drink should have a special name -- with alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. Bottomline: We're EXCITED for you and family, KD!! All the best ... 🫡

dont you know that calamansi is so expensive in Sta. Rosa Laguna or in Nuvali. Last year when I visited Philippines 1 kalamansi was worth 1 peso.. it was so expensive!!! so kumander Daot, if you can find distributor.. you have a gold mine in kalamansi business. you also have an option when you have an over supply.. pack your kalamansi into sachet... for retail selling in store. Here in US we freeze it. or go into export of calamansi in small sachet. Good luck!!! your a good man.

When you were sampling your juice with the foods, totally amazing. I know that you are proud of your calamansi fruits and you should be. Will you add special fertilizer to each plant, like your own compost brew? When i was growing i hooked up to specialty restaurants etc and they became my source to sell directly. More work but i got a higher price and a constant customer.

KD I have 2 hectare kalamansian. In one hectare, I deliver like 550-1,000+ kilograms of kalamansi every week (depende sa panahon good season) to my customers (suki). In harvesting I paid 50 pesos / per buriki (sack) we have 22-23kg/sack. The harvester will bring the lemon(kalamansi) beside the road ready for pick up. So my total expenses per buriki will be: 1. 50 pesos for harvesting (every Saturdays or Sundays) my harvesters are just one family (father, mother, 2 siblings age 19 &21 years old) they will earn 1,200 to 2,500 pesos every Saturday or Sunday only(depende sa kugi). They starts at 5am- 8am rest during sunny season resume at 4pm- 6pm for 23-50 sacks a day. I give them a monthly allowance of 7k for maintenance, weeding and bantay. Every Monday I deliver. 2. 22 pesos for transportation (1peso/kg from farm to market). 3. Supervision charges 1k pesos for my food and snacks. In one sack( 24:19 my total expenses will be 72-80 pesos only. Now if your suki( customer) will buy it 15-30 pesos per kilogram you multiply it to 22kg. For current price of 20 per kilo here. That should be 20x22= 440pesos/sacks. Less expenses 440- 75(middle/ normal expenses) you can earn 365pesos/buriki. Now you can less that to your 1. hectare maintenance. 1. Abono/watering during dry seasons 2. bantay/farm personnel 3. Weeders (dampas 1sq. Meter per tree(puno) 4. Medicines like pesticides and grass control. 5. Personal Gasoline/food and supplies. You can easily earn 8k/week or earn monthly of 30-45k per hectare in lemonan farm. Might be easy 50-70k/hectare during pick time. During December 75-100peos/kg here in our place.
@KumanderDaot
@KumanderDaot 11 күн бұрын
Thanks for this! Your expenses are a bit lower than mine because the harvester is much cheaper there (50 vs. minimum 80 here, maximum is 120-150) but it's good to know that 500-1000 kg per week is possible eventually from 2 hectares 🙂 I was working off minimum 120 per sack expenses when you factor in supervision, packers, and without transport yet
@jansSundews
@jansSundews 11 күн бұрын
@KumanderDaot Yes. I also forget to put the price of the sack or buriki. My kalamansian is located in a flat land( formerly intended for rice fields) So maybe my harvest is higher than yours since I have easy access to water. My problem will be how to drain it to avoid root damage during heavy rains. I intended to have a family per hectare for maintenance besides harvesting and collecting kalamansi they can also earn from me for weeding and some projects. They usually use their weekend for other works, like the father and his older son who work as masons in construction from Monday to friday. The younger sibling is a student. The other family is a bit younger so they share their neighbors 2 people each picking time. I intended to have them both for healthy competition so they will take good care of the trees for a good harvest. Idk how much per kilo in your place but here in our place is very much competitive since we have many kalamansi plantations here.
@KumanderDaot
@KumanderDaot 11 күн бұрын
@jansSundews our price is 7-10 pesos per kilo farmgate right now, but it can go to 60-80 in season. There's also lots of farms! My trees are still 2 years old so 600kg from 4 hectares isn't too bad... We have a lot of water here, and thankfully well drained 🙂 the ones I planted at the bottom don't do so well. I also have one family who takes care of everything 🙂

KD, you're right about it being a good marinade, check some Greek recipes, in Greece lemons are so plentiful that they use with fish, meat, soups and all sorts, calamari would work same.

Thank you for sharing with us the hard work you have put into your start up. Success will come. How does calamansi do in cold storage? Could be something to consider, storage for better pricing. Remember your channel is a great marketing tool. Great work KD!! Wishing you the best 👏🏼👍🏼🙏🏼

Maybe, in the future. You can consider processing your calmansi by converting it into calamansi puree for juice. If it is a hit, your harvest will surely be not enough.

I think you might want to export. Calamansi is abundant enough for locals and its rare for foreign countries.

I live in Nabunturan now, people go to Davao and Tagum because it's cheaper. Try selling it in Nabunturan.

That's interesting, because there are a couple of farms in Nabunturan and Monkayo...

@@KumanderDaot don't forget we're also close to Maragusan and New Bataan, but for some reason it's more expensive here in Nabunturan. My cousin and other family members who owns a karenderya goes to Tagum every Saturday to shop for provision. From what I hear, the farmers goes straight to Davao and Tagum to sell in bulk, they don't go to Nabunturan at all, hence the higher prices.

They are selling that for £7 for 12 pieces here in the UK. Wish you can supply that here. So hard to get and a necessity on our food.
