Not sure if it's already been said but a big part of why I love your vids is the music choice. Every track you've picked is just absolutely perfect and the fact that you sync the beats up to the action just adds that much more polish to an already great video!
@lenar34577 ай бұрын
Holy shit, You've done it Rick. You've created the perfect zombie movie experience, COMPLETELY UNSCRIPTED. The perfect combination of mods to let yourself tryhard as much as possible with only an (arguably) small number of restrictions, no need to pretend, play worse, limit yourself or script anything, just the raw gameplay is a movie on itself. I've always wondered if it could be done, and I truly believe you're the first to ever do it, on zomboid at least. This is the best project zomboid video, and one of the best on the platform in general. As an editor and someone who's always wanted to do longform videos like this, it's very inspiring, and I see and appreciate every little detail you've put into it. Now for a bit of a rant on the music, because I love music and I can't help myself. Your choice of music is fantastic, almost perfect (in my completely subjective and irrelevant opinion). I would've gone with more dark and tense music to replace the energetic electronic when there were tense moments, but the song choice on the farmacy scene, that was amazing. I didn't think it would, but it fit perfectly, I could not have come up with that, kudos. And using the buckshot roulette OST was genius, idk if you're the first to use it like this but it totally fits, emphasizing the helplessness and despair of your situation. On another note, I do think you could have appealed more to the broader, more casual audience of the game. I have more than 2k hours, so I of course prefer this style of commentary, but I still think you could talk less about the intricacies of the mods, or how it's easier on the first few days, and spin it just a little bit to trick unexperienced viewers into thinking you're in more danger than you really are without getting into Arean levels of storytelling, while still keeping it real like you do ofc. I also think you can go for a more clickbaity title and maybe a more colorful thumbnail? like your insane population mall video, but I'm not a youtuber so take that advice with a pinch of salt, you probably know best. I don't know if anyone will see this, I don't often comment on youtube videos but I just had to commend you for this. This is exactly what I've always wanted and still want to do one day, and I want you to know you're a huge inspiration. Keep doing what you're doing :)

Some suggestions. 1. You should have build your second fence on the inside of the other. It would require 16 fewer wall segments and 32 fewer metal plates and corresponding nails and propane. 2. Following the first would have allowed you to build stake traps at the corner where the zombies approach most at night. You can make the spears out of limbs rather than boards and you don't need to replace them. If you find glue and scotch tape you can repair them enough to be usable. If you have common sense mod you can repair the spears with kitchen knives, butter knives, etc. and ripped sheets. This means you can reuse all the spears indefinitely with just the materials the zombies bring to your base! I would turn insta death off for the player though. Stake traps are hella dangerous. If you can kill 30 zeds a night that's 30 zeds who aren't beating on your walls and attracting attention. 3. Build a stake trap that is shaped like a square with a hollow center and put 4 alarm clocks in it. Have the alarms set for every 6 hours. The zeds will naturally be interested in those alarms and this will help clear the area around your home. 4. You can fill your oven with old clothes and ripped sheets. Fill your backpack with the clothing and then select rip sheets. It will rip all the clothes in your pack and render threat and sheets. Burn the dirty rags and use the clean sheets for weapons and clothing repair. This will save time chopping trees and give sewing exp. 5. Since you have the Nomad mod and possibly RV interiors you could set up some chest freezers and a TV inside your panel van and then kept food frozen and watched TV whenever you wanted. You could also sleep in there when traveling. 6. Were you forbidden to use fire? Take that El Camino and go start a campfire in a field a ways away from your base but not too far and lure the zombies to it with your horn. They catch fire and you drive around honking until every zombie in the area sprints over and catches fire. It will take a lot of pressure off your base and clear the surrounding area of zeds.

I loved the music choices as well as your monologue throughout the entirety. I think this challenge was especially fun to watch because of how desperate and harder it became over time. You figuring out how to continue and scrounging for smaller and smaller bits of resources really made it interesting watching you survive it, while also at the same time dealing with larger hordes of zombies. The ending was absolutely awesome, fighting for your life and achieving that last goal was seriously kickass Cheers
