Same here, but as soon as I realized this guy reeeeeeeeeally knows his stuff, I was an instant subscriber. What I would have given to have a guy like this on my staff when I was the fleet supervisor at a gold mine in the high Arctic....

Agreed. I build muscle cars hotrods classics and restomods. Found this channel and watched him align a rear axle that was out of true. He's got character, KNOWS what he's talking about, clear explanation on things. And the boy got SKILL!

Same here man, cool to see. Most the guys with knowledge like this stick to themselves and do not make vids or share knowledge with out working under them for awhile. This guy put in the hard hours for sure.

Its guys like this that other younger guys need to go work for and learn from...I've had my fair share of class room trainings but nothing beats the guy with all the hands on knowledge. Great work man

The difference in ride is amazing, I hade walking beam suspension trucks for 40 years, then the last truck had air bags, I couldn't believe the difference. Great job changing over the suspension.

Sir, you sure do know your suspension work. We used to have a spring and suspension shop near me that did great work like yours for over 60 years, but got bought out by another co and went belly up after only a little time. Sadly around this area you cant expect to get anything near what you do done correctly. You make it look easy. Bill

Hendrickson Suspension is the best ever with Chambers a close second. I have ripped out many an airbag and many a spring suspension to put in Hendrickson walking beam, and double framed them from end to end. Not the other way around....lol. But my trucks do real work.
@timberslasher48994 ай бұрын
@user-fl9wt2wm8o They all have their place. I run T800s, tri axle airbag in rear, with pintle tag trailers. Hauling logs. 90,000 is legal here, but being first market product they hit 107,000 or so for gross sometimes. Load is tall and its as heavy 13 feet up as at the bottom. Short brutal runs through the mountains. Its all about the trucks ability to stand up.

Nice tip on cutting above the weld. Most people get a bit overzealous and try to remove as much material with the torch so they dont have to grind as much, especially since the actual weld is usually quite hard compared to the base material. Patience will really aide you in doing a better job. Also like that you touched on the driveline angles. Good stuff.

Your shower KZbin channel reminds me of all the shows me and my granddaddy grew up watching fixing vehicles I appreciate it but whoever's doing your videos is putting them in the small screen format so when you try to make it full screen play Zooms in way too much other than that the videos are great I just found when I want to put yours on full screen it's never full screen it's always smaller and if I blow it up its way to zoomed in I know another channels do you have the regular setting and you can touch it to full screen and it goes to full screen so it must be some kind of format in which you're loading it to KZbin I love you man keep up the good work I enjoy it I can't do too much of that work anymore so it makes me feel good to watch it

The fertilizer spreader truck i used to run had a walking beam in it. With lift custom wheels to run military tires that was a mean ass truck. It was a l9000 ford w a m11 cummins and that truck was bulletproof as any piece of equipment i have ever ran. 4th on the floor is what you spread at all day long at 14 mph. Idk if it was hendrickson or what but the truck was a long frame ren wheeler that had a box on back that my bossman tool off and added a spreader box

I’d never want to swap from Hendrickson to air leaf…actually I think I’d rather swap from the Haulmax back to the old style RT leaf spring walking beam suspension if it was my truck. They’re hard to beat when it comes to longevity and articulation.
@colewoods37042 жыл бұрын
Yup drive dumptrucks in Wisconsin and I love the 02 we have with the old rt spring walking beam. I hate the haulmaxx
@D.M.Designs Жыл бұрын
Any thing off of the asphalt Walking beam for sure. You can back up on your piles save a lot of space if not able to move piles in time.
@mattberg916 Жыл бұрын
Walking beam keeps the weight on all the wheels. Air bags off road don't adjust fast enough and then you're stuck
@jameswilson2051 Жыл бұрын
They make an air ride for the walking beam suspension
@J.R.in_WV Жыл бұрын
@@jameswilson2051 I know, they call it “AR2”….it’s obscure and I’ve only ever seen one truck that actually had it and it was a retrofit. While it would still have similar articulation that setup still isn’t as solid in turns as the leaf springs are and requires dumping the bags when raising the truck body or roll-off track. I wouldn’t mind having it on a tractor but for a straight truck with any type of body that moves or raises I’m not sold on the idea.

They should have gone to air trac suspension is geared towards heavy haul. Air leaf bushings are going to take a beating same with the torque rods. Other wise great video. Peterbilt has all the suspension installation drawings if you didnt have the old frame as a template

Hey Great Job! One thing I need to ask. Its about leveling valve. Should it be around middle of axle? In EU we Mount them not by the air spring but around centre of axle so the valve would receive real axle level signal and not disturbed by the airbag tilt. Anyways its a good job!

We also went from two sets of tandems to 3 sets of tandems the front tandems are able to be raised in lower when needed no I ain't going to tell you it was easy it took a long time get everything right but I think I should bring it to you to make sure that everything is straight went and had it aligned all-wheel alignment front and back and they said we were good but you never know about the factory employees on whether or not it is actually right or not it drives really good and don't have no unusual tire wear but should have someone professional check it out to make sure

I got with some friends of mine and we literally built me a brand new frame that was thick and was used for Heavy Haul because I made me a 84 Peterbilt Heavy Haul truck bye-bye a new heavy straight frame and took everything off the old frame and put it on the new had to add new cross members cause stretched it out a little bit
