2:00 I remember running into this issue when I did not have a dedicated audio interface. There is a small control panel thing called something like Line 6 USB Audio MIDI devices in which you could turn your guitar signal all the way down or increase it by 18dB if you want

Wow. Nice. Thank you so much for this video. All of you videos about line 6 Pod HD500x are very helpful. Knowing that there's someone here in youtube that I can visit whenever I want to learn about hd500x. I don't have one for now. But planning to buy. And because of your videos, I think HD500x is still relevant.

In the ASIO driver you can turn hardware monitoring all the way down to prevent the clean dry signal monitoring. Helix Native cheaper than an hx stomp with more buttons!!

Awesome video, I know I’m late to the party but I was wondering is it possible to run the helix rack and 500x together. Almost just like this but hardware to hardware 🤔

Jon your videos are fantastic! As a complete novice, you have been a huge help and motivated me to get a HD500x myself. You mentioned in this video that Line 6 has a support section that covers what you need to get setup on the more common DAWs - I can't seem to find this but would love to see it - is it possible for you to share a link to it as mentioned?

Yes, posted! Let me know if it works.

So you cannot skip dry signal even if you turn off hardware monitoring? This is why Reaper is the best DAW ever. Instead of sending signal from one track to another (from midi to audio) like you do in Ableton, you would simply have one track asigned line 6 podhd500x as your midi device and load helix native on that track. You turn off hardware monitoring in line 6 software and just keep track monitoring in Reaper. There is no midi, audio, aux tracks...there are only tracks in Reaper. It's up to you to define what track is what.

That's an interesting idea! I didn't know there was an option to turn of hardware monitoring. I have the POD X3 Live, so don't know if it'll be possible, but in my case the X3 Live actually can send the dry input signal to the DAW using the ASIO drivers, so it's possible to just mute the sound of the guitar in the X3 patch itself. One more advantage of REAPER is that it has a workaround for changing Helix Native patches, since Native doesn't support MIDI Program Change messages. You can save Helix Native patches in REAPER's native format and switch between them. Switching between patches inside Helix Native and in REAPER's format exactly the same amount of time. You can assign your patches in REAPER to MIDI PC messages, so you can switch between them!

Will they have more updates for the hd500x. Or its a dead module because of helix being the new thing now

Such a cool unit, recently my digi002 interface went out and I learned that you can actually use the HD500X as an audio interface , so I've got my Kemper going through the input of the 500x via xlr cable and I can record through that until I get a new audio interface, because as cool as the 500x is does not have audio converters that match an actual audio interface, hey Jon really cool video by the way, keep making them. cheers. I bought this unit when I was 18 and didn't have much money and ironically, part of why I bought it was cause it allowed me to SKIP getting an interface until I could afford one. I would have figured most people took this into account when getting this! Hahah every head in its own world right?

Couldn’t you add a volume block alone to essentially mute the pod output I recently downloaded an HX Stomp preset to use it with native in the same way and the secret is to have a volume block turned on and set to all the way off

Hey! I’ve seen a lot of your videos in KZbin of you using the Podhd500x, I used to own one. And I’ve used your KZbin channel a lot to learn how to use it. Making my own presets etc. But I wanted to ask if you’ve ever thought about getting the line 6 firehawk fx pedal. Or if it has ever crossed your mind especially when you were buying the Podhd500x. Since they are in the same price range selling them as used.

Thanks a lot for the information, was wondering if there is any way to programme the 500x to change the Patch on Native
@rhitosparsha3 жыл бұрын
If you're still looking for the answer, unfortunately it's not possible directly, as Helix Native doesn't support MIDI Program Change (PC) messages. However, there's a way around that in some cases. For example, if you're using REAPER as your DAW, you can save Helix Native patches in REAPER's native format and switch between them. Switching between patches inside Helix Native and in REAPER's format exactly the same amount of time. You can assign your patches in REAPER to MIDI PC messages, so you can switch between them! You should be able to find a similar way to do things in your DAW of choice.

Any Ideas to connect the POD500x with the HXStomp to use the Hardware of the POD with the amps and effects with the HX? I have a POD500x and now a HXStomp too, so may be give it a try...
@JonEleyetGuitar4 жыл бұрын
If you give it a try, let me know how it sounded! I've tried re-amping from the Stomp to the 500x, but I had terrible noise from a ground loop. I also had both devices connected to my computer with USB cables and I think that was causing the noise.

I just want to let anyone who might be watching in 2021 or later that you CAN turn off the dry signal monitoring in the ASIO driver settings - under "Advanced" turn the "Monitor Hardware" slider all the way down.

I use my pod hd 500 x as a MIDI controller for my iPhone so that I can control functions inside of AUM or other iOS hosts lol it’s a beast. Gotta tell you, considering the only good alternative I see online is the behringer FCB1010 which is a beast of a midi controller pedal and costs around 200 dollars where I live.... having this functionality for free on a device I originally bought simply for how amazing it is for my guitar sound, is amazing. It’s essentially doubled its usability for me. Although I’m not gonna lie🤭.... at the same time my iPhone has partially replaced my need for the pedal and my RC-300. That’s also why I found out they had all this midi juice available, when I was looking for other things they could help me with given that I now often simply use amp emulation on my phone directly lol ! It’s just far easier since it requires less time to setup.
