Yes seems like years ago all the snooker players that went to 9 ball were all using their snooker cue however i reckon that wouldnt happen anymore. Im going to play chinese 8 ball nextime with a american cue just to see how i find it compared to the snooker cue i usually use.

you would want 13mm as a start and as you get better, you move to smaller diameter tips for nore cue control, spin/english. look at how many pros use predator z shaft or cf (11.XX). buy a 13mm shaft and a snooker cue to test things out.

I find as a beginner using a smaller size tip like snooker cue gives more precision but its harder to give pool cue ball enough spin

Hi Ali, depends which type of pool! English pool would be fine, but American Pool probably not for the reasons we've outlined in the video. :)

Hi there, a cue tip that needs replacing will look squashed or in extreme cases 'mushroomed'. A mushroomed cue causes the leather to bulge back over the ferrule.

Whilst we can't ask the man himself, we suspect it's probably because it's what he's used to and comfortable with, and can afford to replace the tip as often as he needs to!

There aren't any written rules about what cue you have to use, so you're free to use whatever type of cue you like. Typically though, cues with larger tips are better at delivering more powerful shots, whilst smaller tips are better for more precise accuracy. Do be mindful of using smaller tips on larger/heavier balls though, as this could cause the cue tip to "mushroom" and deform much quicker than you may be expecting.

When I played league pool back in the early 90s I always used a single piece snooker cue and rarely lost 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@dumdumdim1345 wasn’t in it for the big time, was just a hobby for me. Never had the drive to put the effort into chasing glory, was just happy that I could step up against pretty much any opponent and put them through the wringer 🤷🏻‍♂️

Lengths on cues actually remain fairly consistent. Both English and American style cues can come in a full size 57 inches, a smaller 48 inches or an even smaller 36 inches (ideal for tighter spacer or for children to use).
