You all are so blessed you have the knowledge to work on your van and don't have to take it to a mechanic. I have a Haul Master 500 lb capacity steel cargo carrier that hooks to my hitch. It really helps a'lot when we travel or go camping. I can set my camping chairs, coolers, grill and other items on. I know that has nothing to do with your video but it could help you all with hauling some of your stuff. Harbor Freight has it for 59.99. So happy to see your all's channel growing. You all deserve it.

Any 10 gauge wires in that bundle could be used to charge battery. Preferably one that is switched (key on). A little dc/dc battery tender for safety. That fridge is 120 watt run so she was maxed 😂. I know it’s unsolicited advice, but comments will help the algorithm. Good luck and have fun.

Brother; For one what you need to do is get yourself a shop manual for your van or a "Haynes Manual on your van those books will show you what wire goes where. Now back in the old days before invertors, etc; They had what they called a dual charging system that you would hook to your Altenator, and it would charge the battery under the hood and your aux battery so you could run stuff inside your van.
@vanmilyoffour7 күн бұрын
Yes I gotta see where I can find one of those old manuals it’ll probably be on eBay
@superpossum787 күн бұрын
Auto parts store still carries the old manuals but they're geared toward basic repairs on standard models. She's your baby now. Wire her up with outlets and capacity that suits your needs. Also wire nuts are better than black tape. They're cheap ez on and ez off.

If you’re using a 120 watt inverter 12 volt system at max power should be 10 amps. 14 gauge would be sufficient but if you run larger your future proof yourself if you upgrade your inverter.
@vanmilyoffour7 күн бұрын
Yes so I’ll probably need larger if upgraded to 1000 watts in the future
@RollOnBusin7 күн бұрын
Only use a pure sinewave inverter when using fine electronics (iPad/computer/phone)
@vanmilyoffour7 күн бұрын
Ok thank you definitely don’t want to mess the iPad up
@FreeAt-lasAdventures7 күн бұрын
To protect the wire you need a fuse rated for the amount of amps the wire can handle. 10 gauge is good for about 40 amps so you would need a 40 amp fuse. Obviously your inverter shouldn’t let you pull that much since its only 120 watts
@vanmilyoffour7 күн бұрын
Yes thank you for the advice,I’ll look for a wire/fuse rating chart.

get as big of an inverter as you can afford. electronics draw alot of extra current on startup. thatt why generators will whos a starting and running wattage. I wired my own solar system and other things as well. I may be able to offer assistance if any was needed. Good luck

@@vanmilyoffour As an engineer, I highly recommend going a bit bigger. Where possible and if you have enough power in your battery bank and you will be expanding the bank, I'd recommend at least a 2,000 watt *PURE SINE* wave inverter. PLEASE don't get sucked into those "modified sine" POS inverters. That term, "modified sine" is a fake phrase! More correctly, might be the words, "modified SQUARE" wave or "multi-step square wave." Any type of square wave inverter is not good for electronics and most motors. No issue for just an old type toaster without electronics in it. A PURE SINE wave inverter is more expensive, but less expensive that having to replace electronics... i.e. tvs, radios, sound systems, anything with electronic in them. And yes, there will be those who will argue this point until they are blue in the face. I know, because been there done that with those guys who think they know this stuff but actually have zero education in electronics. Same with a generator, these days. With all the sensitive electronics, the best gens are "Inverter" gens, because they actually do have an inverter in them, that outputs PURE SINE wave and a solid 120V @ 60Hz at normal loads. As for the pure sine inverter, where possible, try to get a good brand name. Not these cheap knockoffs that fail quickly. Actually, the same can be said for inverter generators. Where possible, try to get a good brand name. Not a knockoff where you can't even get parts for it. Sorry for the long comment, but I hope that helps. I have over 50 years in the electronics field. From the old days of vacuum tubes to now. LOL
@Jess-rr5nj2 күн бұрын
@vanmilyoffour i run a 2500 watt true sine wave inverter, about 800 watts solar, a 40 amp mppt charge controller and 360 amp hours of lithium battery storage. this allows me to utlilze most anything a house would run. just shorter run times. true sine is important for sensitive electronics including tvs and laptops. if i was in full sun id charge completely before 1 or 2 pm. the rest of the time youve got "unlimited" power available while the sun is out. without gaming and all the other high current draw id get about a week with no sun or generator before needing to recharge. if off grid living is your plan get the best and biggest of everything as it will easily transfer to any other location or system. i got 4 100 watt panels from amazon for less than $200 dollars a short while back. if the panels match you will create the most power without any losses. so if you can only get them one at a time get the same brand or the same spec panels and youll be good. as you build your system.

The sliding grill would be awesome on your van to use outdoors, Buy a 1000-watt inverter. It would work better for you for things that requires more power You would be able to run even a 700 watt microwave oven in your van.

You need to get yourself a set of front crimping wire pliers something cheap will work but regular pliers are not going to give a good crimp and more likely to fail

Another thing use 12 volt lighting instead of running 110 volt lights from the inverter. Your battery will run longer on 12 volt lights.
