I ran across this vido accidentally while preparing for a simultaneous interpreting exam. I'm no spring chicken, and once read on a forum a comment from a "youngster" who said that by age (50?), people should no longer be interpreting because they're too old! Well, that was the gauntlet being thrown down as far as I was concerned. I have no plans to stop any time soon!

I started learning German in college Fall 2008. I had 4 semesters then a year off before studying abroad for 6 months. Then 10 months later I returned for another year. Everyone is very impressed by how well I speak after only being here for a year and a half but it's still frustrating that I don't have it down perfectly yet. Once I've succeeded I'd like to perfect my Spanish before becoming an interpreter. If you need any more subjects I'd be glad to be a part of this! Hope to see more updates!

Brava! Keep me in mind if you do research with an older population. I've just retired after 40 years as an interpreter (English, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, French, and American Sign Language). I'm a young sexagenarian. :)

Being an interpreter is my dream, I'm currently 20 years old and going to start working towards realizing this goal. If I see this comment down the road in some years, I hope that I will react with a smile and satisfaction. If anyone has pointers, I would very much appreciate them.
