Actually what I like about a lot of climbing videos is to see people struggle only because they're pushing their limits. It's most rewarding to watch them overcome the climb they were battling. Great work, and really liked seeing sport climbing seeing as I mainly sport climb. Keep up the good work.

Awesome respect for Joe on this than almost any of the other videos honestly. Lead IS scary and it’s something I definitely find hard. What I would say though Joe is that your clipping is f’ing superb man! It’s so quick and clean and I know part of that will be down to wanting to get it clipped ASAP to feel (relatively) safe again but even so, top notch buddy 🤜👍

Joe, that was like watching myself leading in a mirror! I am happy to highball most big boulders no problem as I'm sure you are but put a rope and harness on me and all my strength counts for nothing as I over grip and crap my pants 2 inches above the last bolt! The moment you quit on the 7C+ and basically sat straight back into your harness with no drop reminds me of countless moments like that I have myself had on lead. The single cure for it in my experience is just being on the sharp end more. The comfort comes with heaps of time spent in that position and I think the most useful thing to help me get any closer to "fine" while in that situation was being super cautious of not over gripping. I've heard a couple good mates suggest both "the rock warriors way" and "fear" they are both supposed to be ace for helping you get your head around that stuff if you want to that is! We all know Bouldering is best ;) Good luck with it mate, I'd love to hook up for a climb with you guys back in the UK on one of my holidays or if you lot want to put up some new first ascents come down under, I can host you in Brisbane and we can go check out the granite belt region. First ascents and ace technical established routes abound! Keep up the hard graft bobat's been ace watching you all progress both climbing and video editing wise! P.S time for another hot sauce challenge? or maybe like I once did down a mountain snowboarding try climbing some stuff with Tiger balm smeared on your face just under your eyes (It's bare jokes honest....)

You guys are awesome! Joe, you should do some practice falls to build up confidence, shake out your arms during the climb, find good rests to shake out and chalk up, and try to clip with the quickdraw between shoulder and waist height if possible, you'll save a lot of strength. And you'll be flashing those 7C+'s in no time

A lot of gyms will have to help teach climbers about sport climbing and how to properly set up a top rope and such. My gym actually requires us to clip both and to check if they are opposite and opposed before lowering! Just a way to constantly practice skills. You are protected by the gear below you so it isn’t such a big deal if the gear were to fail, inside or out!

Tim Parkin that’s actually not true. We tested this recently by having someone climb both on lead and a toprope. He clipped the 2nd draw and then went to clip the 3rd draw as early as he could but before actually clipping I took him on he toprope and he lead belayer held the exactly where it was before having taken any of he slack out as though he’d fallen. I then lowered the climber and turned out that even being lowered slowly so no rope stretch, his feet touched the ground. We then did the same thing but he him go for the clip with the draw at around chest height. When we lowered him down his feet were at leat 3 to 4 feet away from the floor

Tom, your're ascending using a great system, except you're missing a vital piece. Clip a biner in the bottom of your jug (jumar) and run the brake rope from your grigri through it. That way when you;re stepping up in your etrier you're pulling down on the rope. Much easier and effective.
