Let's see how Lego-compatible aluminum beam deforms or breaks when high torque is applied.
The test bench is made using only plastic Lego parts (and string). Enjoy!
The beam dimensions are the same as Lego part 32278 Technic, Liftarm 1 x 15 Thick
The beam was bought from Dark Ice Designs:

Totally agree I actually did do something once that was really hard on the Lego axles and was operated frequently in a project under a lot of force eventually what to take it apart and I couldn't get one part of it apart even I'm like what gives I did do that eventually probably that axle would fail but pain completely failed however the axle had been Twisted to the point so many times that instead of being a cross shape it was almost completely rounded it been Twisted so badly it looked like it was round almost that's how much it would Twisted to the point that it was hard to discern that originally it was cross-shaped yeah that's a long tour I don't know how many stages are gearing either or what the ratio was blood pressure yesterday how I also gears were doubled and tripled up if not more I think I actually ran across the axle the other day when I was doing some sorting even though I think of it.

This really grinds my gears.
@aaronbrandenburg2441
@aaronbrandenburg2441 3 жыл бұрын
Yep eventually you'll destroy those gears as well in addition to grinding. I've broken the old style by Will gears albaugh. Especially the 18th the first ones were rather very weak they've gotten better over the years in terms of that design change. Also you know they've got parts now they're designed to take higher torque so the new sets even have a new slip clutch that is designed for much heart worked in the old toys for tooth gear clutch gear. Also there is the newer wheel holder with the planetary gear set. Also a large Technic turntable it's fairly easy to build a set of planetary gears as well. I built a rotating sign once and that's how I did part of the gear reduction. Although Lego designs set of are facial planetary gear boxes that you could build your own gear boxes for compact gear trains. Or maybe something along the lines of about the size of what the call function Motors may be shorter that would have a female coaxial connector in each end of course the holes for chicken pens and then just have planetary gears in the house and make it a modular system of some sort perhaps different colors for different gear ratios. If this sort of sounds familiar it should if your into the older Lego expert Builder / Technic the Technic gear reduction set used this very same idea the one that was the same shape as the older motor that was a planetary gearbox I'm pretty sure. The other one that came with it was I'm not sure how that would put together but it's possible it was some sort of worm Drive I don't know wrap my head around that one for quite a while any comments?
