I always thought The Sims would be unique and that no other life simulator could appeal me, but here I am. I agree with you, Life by You does not have to replace The Sims and coexistence can be beneficial. If one of the two fails to stand up to competion, like SimCity, it would be its own fault and not the other destroying it.

The only reason I believe LBY will eventually replace TS is this: EA is killing the franchise, same way it did with Sim City. EA is launching poorer and buggier packs each time as an excuse, in the future, to justify why they redid the "entire game" and project Rene will neve be TS5. Instead it will be anything else, focused in microtransactions and mobile based. As a TS player since the launch of TS1 back in those days, I am so so sad to see what they are doing with once awesome franchise. Yes, we will always have TS3, but that will eventually be out of market as they stopped working on anything for that game. Same as happened with TS2

Kinda wished the competition was earlier instead of only appearing now. Cities Skylines only appeared after 2 years since Simcity 2013 crahed and burned. Competing life sims like Paralives and Life By You was announced years after Sims 4 started to re-establish itself to be a very successful game again.

Oh, me too! I think it's no secret that Sims could be so much better if only EA would allow more resources to be spent... such a big title and money, yet it feels like Maxis has so many limitations on what they can do!

I say bury EA. I am someone who threw a lot of money at them because I really like the sims, still I am so excited about life by you! Competition would be so great because would either force EA to be less scummy and lower their ridiculous prices or I would simply have a new game to play. Either way, it’s a win

Competition is always a good thing. Even if many Simmers won't play this game or don't find the art style appealing, its mere existence will push EA to step things up and release a better product. Life by You also has a lot of potential through mods. Cities Skylines on its own is a decent game, but what makes it amazing is the sheer numbers of mods there are.

With former Sims producers coming in to develop a new game, I am looking forward to see what Life by You has to offer. I am rooting for this game and Paralives to really pose a serous threat to the Sims as Sims 4 is not serving especially since 2020.

The Sims 4 hasn't been serving since the catastrophic release of the game, when it came out without toddlers, family trees, ghosts and so forth. Heck the Sims couldn't even dream or swim in a pool until many months later! 🙄

The biggest edge Paradox may have on the Sims is the modding support according to the trailer showing the creative potential. I think the deep modding will make a huge difference in player experience.

I think the point it's not replace the sims franchise because that would be impossible even cities skylines wasn't able to do that with simcity, the legacy of the franchise still exists but it surely killed simcity 2013. And I think that's the biggest threat for the sims, not damaging the franchise and it's legacy but posting a threat to The Sims 4, arguably the weakest game of the franchise. If life by you is successful I can see EA going into panic mode because they never had to deal with competition for the sims, that will probably make EA want to make the sims 5 and if that game ends up as disappointing as the sims 4 then history will repeat itself once again.

It’s good that there’s more life simulation games coming. Some competition will be good for The Sims and encourage them to listen to customers.

The last SimCity game was partly online-based, and the servers did not handle the load on release and for a while after. Project Renee will be partly online-based, and the servers... well, we recently saw EA's servers in action with the release of Growing Together. EA better sit down and think hard about where they pinch pennies. If this game replaces the Sims, EA can thank itself for not learning from the past.

I don't know that the sims, specifically the sins 4, actually has any loyalty, there just isn't anything else out there like it. Now there will be. And if it's good, I might jump ship altogether.

Paralives is very promising, but I don't like the art style they've chosen. I love realism.. So I hope Life by You will have realistic art style and realistic gameplay. Also, EA and Maxis really need some good competition. At the moment, greed is killing them and the quality of The Sims. Can't say anything about their other games.

Life by You is a bit of a weird mix of stylized graphics with realistic shaders or something. It's not quite on either side of the spectrum. It's almost a little mismatched in my opinion. I need to see more of it.

Super excited! 🤗🤩 I also have hopes for Rob Humble. I hope he will give us what we loved and still love in the Sims 2 and 3.

I am definitely going to check out this game AND I will keep playing the Sims. XD If there are more games like that, more stuff to enjoy, imo. I'm the kind of person that just enjoys stuff I like without comparing it to other stuff, every game has its own charm. At least, that's what I think. :3

Yes, I believe they have a huge chance. Sims players, most of them, are very upset and annoyed with the direction of the sims… just how many people years ago felt with sims city. Guaranteed sims city flopped basically on release. They didn’t have a fan base. Nonetheless… they have the ball in my court on my end. They better make the sims 4 we dreamed of. Hopefully this advancement will make the sims 4 sort themselves out.. maybe that’s why they’re not laying off people? They need new ideas etc.

Just for clarification, SimCity killed itself by EA's greed, Paradox just had no competition when they were about to release Cities Skylines cause SimCity was already "dead". I seriously don't think Simcity is over, it's just EA needs to get their shit together but too bad they too focused on milking money of the sims

No. Sims 4 is a mainstream pop culture thing with about 5 times the players of the older sims games. Over 60 percent of the players are 16-24 year old girls, and they’re not going to switch to a hardcore strategy game that isn’t cute. It can make inroads with the older simmers and male simmers though. I predict 2-5million players, maybe up to 10m if it has good feedback.

Be aware this game still has years of development to go through. Personally, i would rather have a fully optimised, polished, and as few glitches as possible with an open world compared to realism. Im not sure both can be achieved to a good standard for simulation games (since they’re so complex) as of yet. Possibly if you have a meaty rig tho.

I see lags in this gameplay short video. So they used same old sims 3 engine with improved graphics. History shows us, that open world doesnt work on this games, lot of items to each other creates lags, freezes, crashes. If they want to be competitors, they need create something new, at now this is Sims copy with graphics improvements.

If by "The Sims" you mean Sims 4, why do you set the bar so low? If you mean Sims 3 with modern graphics, yeah, that's gonna be a challenge.

Imma be honest: I didn't like anything I've seen so far of LBY. I'm not into the realistic style and it doesn't seem to have too much identity. But, The Sims NEEDS competition so EA can stop treating the fans like shit and the franchise like just a cash grab with no soul, so I'm hoping this game succeeds!

Hopefully Life by You and Paralives does well so EA can cry about it and start treating the sims franchise correctly again. I believe Maxis team are really not happy with the greediness of EA but since they probably have a strict contract and EA own the sims they can't leave and have another publisher.

I think they could do so much better with Sims if they were given the resources. The Sims 4 will always be lacking, but at least what they already do could be so much better and deeper. It's rarely like that, most of the time we get very shallow mechanics.

The main problem is EA don’t listen. They just cancelled SimCity rather than learn from their errors. One pattern I notice, is the idea sounds good but it’s the execution of it that’s bad. My Wedding Stories is a prime example. More detailed weddings sound good but it was rushed. 🙄🤦🏼‍♂️
