To be fair, since the hat serves a gameplay purpose with the cap glide badge, it makes sense that the 99 lives easter egg was removed. Of course, it could be argued that since the badge could be used with characters that don't even have a cap in the first place, my reasoning is slightly flawed.

For the items through pipes thing, you can do it as Yoshi, but only sometimes, and you have to use his tongue to do it. Go to puzzling park, tongue the super mushroom, and go down to where the fourth wonder token is. Yoshi can take the super mushroom through that pipe, but not through the mushroom dispensing pipe that puts you in the background. So far it's the only way I've been able to carry something through a pipe in Mario wonder

Regarding getting over 999 flower coins, while I won't argue that 999.9 is greater than 999, making it technically true, once the Wonder Flower's effect wears off, any decimal point amounts of flower coins go away, putting you right back at 999. I thought they might round up, but no, the decimal portion is simply removed.
