People new to CAN often name a couple of bands who “influenced them” until you point out that CAN came first. They are the mothers of a hundred bands in a hundred genres.

Gorgeous piece from one of the best, most influential, and far-sighted groups of musicians of the last 100 years.

Funny story. I put this on as ambient music for my 7th graders as they wrote essays. Had to turn it off because after a while they were just zoned out. One noted how they felt "vertigo" as they listened. Definitely free-writing music, but essays...not so much.

I must have been living under a rock until you tube came along. Can. Captain Beef heart Tom Waits are just 3 acts I would never have dreamed of listening to. Tape Kebab is one of the best things I have ever heard

This is so amazing!!!!!! I’ve needed to get my soul back for a while now, felt excessively dissociated and music is always, and forever, my way of coming back to life. Never heard of this song by Can until the other night, and my heart is beating in heaven with this mesmeric band. That guitar....so so so beautiful💕

I would dearly love to know why the Peels Sessions album hasn't been remastered and re-released with everything else. There is stuff (very good stuff) on there that cannot be heard anywhere else. And it's not just an "historical interest" type of thing. These are brilliant performances.
@Creaturefiendyo4 жыл бұрын
I agree this needs to happen
@therealrodhull14 жыл бұрын
Maybe it already was remastered? It was made in 1995, so it would have at least been done with good technology.

@MrMeddled - I don't feel the Mooney stuff has aged badly- Maybe it's personal taste- but there's some far reaching wide scoping material- from archives or from Monster Movie that is essential and just as timeless as any of Can's work- If anything aged a little poorly it was late later 70s Can- where they seemed to be more derivative of mainstream -relatively speaking- But even that material will be subject to review and greater respect in due time

@MrMeddled Mooney stuff, aged? You are bullshitting to the fucking moon. Radiohead covered Thief not long ago and practically introduced a whole new generation to Can.

It's also called november? I have only heard this song labeled "Mighty Girl," and this is the only recording I have heard. Are there others? It's a great song. Also check out my remix of this song if you have the time. it should be the 1st video under yours if you search "can mighty girl"

Why did that fool compare Can to The Beatles & Radiohead? - they have nothing in common. Why can't people just say they like something without shit-canning everything else? Musical taste is a personal thing.
@keltyk13 жыл бұрын
@MrMeddled - Got to agree- Having musically grown with Can since just before mid 1970s- there was no way to take Radiohead seriously- This bunch give you a fucking good ear for poseurs- fakers and wannabes- And a good ear for the real thing

i do love can and this song but to be honest it is a bit cheesy compared to some of their other greats
@francismansell83893 жыл бұрын
I never listen to the two tracks from this session. Not sure about cheesy, just a bit dull by their usually very high standards. They sound like they were going through the motions, which is very unusual for them. The rest of the Peel Sessions CD is far better.
@frenchguitarguy1091 Жыл бұрын
Definitely needed a couple of cuts, parts of the track are a bit aimless, but they manage to find their footing.
