Jones has 24 NFL wins at a bad franchise, and is 27, the same age as Darnold. Jones definitely has a better record and more upside. It's not really a credible conversation to say otherwise.

A lot of folks are massively overthinking this. Remember how this team was completely sabotaged last season when Kirk went down. Kwesi said in his pre-season presser that the importance of depth was the biggest thing he learnt from 2023. Jones is a massive upgrade at QB3 immediately, and likely a significant upgrade at QB2 in the short term. Everything else is overthinking it. Having Jones opens up a lot of other options and opportunities - which is another thing that Kwesi stressed pre-season and actioned in the signing of Darnold and draft trades with the Texans, and for JJ and Turner. Some of the other options will likely play out after the season and before FA, but they are peripheral opportunities, not the purpose of the signing.

Darnold. Jone and JJ McCarthy are similar Qbs. They can scramble and throw. Arm talent, I give Darnold the edge. Jone may be the best runner of the group, but not in the same league as Lamar or Josh Allen, the J Hurt. Those are like running QBs. We don't know what JJ is, but he seems to be in the same style as Jones and Darnold. Decision-making is key. Obviously, Darnold likes to hold on to the ball for those long-developing plays. The 49ers got their QBs hurt this way, but Purdy was the quicker decision-maker. But with less physical talent. J.J.McCarthy's knee issues, will he ever be mobile. His ceiling would be similar to Bo Nix.

Why is it obvious about Darnold? Every long developing play by definition would require every QB to hold onto the ball that long, and plays are designed by the OC or HC. That part of your comment is intrinsically incorrect and borderline stupid. the play designer is the person that wants the QB to hold on to the ball long enough to execute the play.

I'm not so worried about having only 4 draft picks. I think Kwesi's approach is to fill out the roster through free agency which he sees as "known entities". Then he enters the draft without glaring needs because he sees draft picks more like lotto tickets. Then, even if he has 4 picks instead of 7 picks, they can bring in 17 UDFAs to play the lotto with--which they seem to be doing very well.

Despite me being a Vikings Fan who is very cynical of the Vikings, I do believe that the Vikings WILL WIN a Super Bowl BEFORE WE DIE! What I'm most impressed with most about our organization is the willingness to go and get players when the opportunity presents itself, needed or not. This is something the previous regime would never do in a substantive way. Although, the move to get DJ was expected, it does nothing to improve our team right now. I'm just worried that KOC is starting to actually believe his own press.

He took an organization with 0 CAP FLEXIBILITY and turned it into the 6th most for next season. The draft is certainly important, but KAM's ability (and commitment) to not (OVERPAY), he has assembled a VERY VERY GOOD TEAM.
