MONSTER HUNTER doesn't really need to be MMO, just make it something similar to WORLD where you have that essence of MMO live service style while not going all the way.
@EisteeChris2 ай бұрын
It doesnt need to be a MMO at all, especially not its core games.
@Segundachanceemgames8 ай бұрын
It could be, but if they don't show more players in the second trailer, I don't think it will be an MMO. I honestly think they would've shown a fight with more players right away if it was an MMO.
@thenerdbeast73758 ай бұрын
I think Monster Hunter is fine as is, World had it almost _perfect_ with the only problem being the annoying cutscene restriction. The only way I could see it improved is if the towns were basically entirely gathering hub where you can see other players about all the time and join up to make groups in person. This is already an incredibly successful and social RPG with a good grouping system, don't mess up a great formula.
@AFK-_-BRUH8 ай бұрын
10000% agree
@oldmangamer71618 ай бұрын
They should keep it as a hub based. I wouldn’t mind seeing other players there. But the formula of world worked well. Not sure if a “world boss” would be fun either.
@Tavishburn8 ай бұрын
as far as im concerned Monster hunter has always been an MMO-lite if people can call destiny an MMO (which essentially uses the same setup as even the very first monster hunter had, hub area where you manage your build, talk to npc's, spend currency, match with other people and pick what quests you want to do and what maps you want to enter) then we can call Monster Hunter at the very least an MMO-lite
@adrianmckeever21458 ай бұрын
I think it would be cool to see more people in gathering hub and maybe in free explore but for balance quests need a hard player cap. If the open world was big enough they could allow more players onto one map (would cap it at like 16 for performance and to maintain some balance); but have monsters rage or summon extra large monsters when ganged up on by 5+ hunters as a balance measure.

Monster Hunter is unique where yes you can solo. Keep it online co-op, drop in and out. I'd rather have them support the game longer than normal. Like base game + two additional expansions, and title updates in between. They're already doing the cash shop thing which is some cause for concern. With AAA costs as high as they are, it would make sense for Wilds to have a longer support cycle.
@rept78 ай бұрын
Monster Hunter's MMO-lite, lobby based gameplay works well enough as it is. Whats lacking is that extra oomph for the gathering hub, giving it a more social feeling sense of place.

I think your suggestion of MH Wilds MMO with max 4 players per hunt, and all else you mentioned, could work... I would be curious if it ever goes that route... Personally I would love 1 GIGANTIC map that maybe has more added to it over time, with updates... Bringing entirely new monsters, places to explore, and get lost in with changing seasons, and other aspects, would be cool. I just want more concrete information, and less speculation... Hopefully we get some kind of info dump via Summer Game Fest... I know it's likely too soon, but I would be over the moon if they announce a playable demo available this Summer... I really don't want to wait until December 2024, or beyond for that... Considering we know there is one in existence already, and they are probably more or less done with the game, bug-checking/correcting, and giving it a proper polish we might get it sooner, rather than later---(this hunter can only hope...) I can't wait to see what's in store for us and play Wilds for 5000+ hours like I've done the last 2 titles...

og MH was planned to be mmo, and eventually frontier came to be I'm highly against people filling the hunting grounds. It's the wilderness, it supposed to be devoid of man. Maybe if we're going to have real time travel between areas and have combat/events on the travel route, otherwise I do not appreciate seeing uninvited players in the hunting grounds.

Honestly, they have a made a lot of games already, trying to make a mmorpg could be cool, but risky (cost too much, long to make, could flop). I love mmorpg, i love MH gameplay, but i don't see how they could make a mmorpg, but hey, we never know.

Monster Hunter has already had two MMO’s. In both it kept the same system of four players a hunt. There are in game story reasons for why there should only be 4, the games have had a tradition of only having 4, and as you mentioned from a game design standpoint they should keep it at 4 per hunt. Open is already way too small for a game like MH, so if you shoved in way more than 4 people in a hunt, the maps could easily get crowded with hunters. I think that’s partially why they keep the hunting count so small. Not only would the monster have to focus on different targets, put the more people you shove into the hunting areas, the more crowded they become. It would feel less like you’re in the wilderness if you just keep stumbling across more and more people as you explore a map.

As someone who prefers solo play MH going MMO is absolutely unappealing to me. I like having space away from other players if I want (I can get anxious if I feel I'm supposed to interact with other players). I don't mind the occasional multiplayer hunt, but if I'm constantly being pinged to let people join me to fight my monster, it's going to get annoying, fast. Another thing is that intended or not, soloing monsters first is considered good practice and a test of skill. If Wilds were an MMO, it would only make sense to make monsters multiplayer first focused, which would really mess with that. I really don't want to go back to 'be a monster hunter god, play multiplayer, or don't do master rank.' And I absolutely don't want more siege monsters. They basically end up as unplayable content once the game cools down/everybody gets what they want (and World's are garbo imo). Assuming Wilds is open world, then World's method is probably the best; you form groups before you leave, you leave space for people to join you, or you SOS for help. They need to get rid of World's weird cutscene requirement, but otherwise it really works fine. I think the big problem is that they don't incentivise continued multiplayer. World's system now is basically SOS only so you don't really get hunting parties. Maybe adding a small drop quality increase as you hunt with the same people would help. That said, as much as I love this series if they every required a monthly subscription to play, I'm out.

There was already a MH MMO that never came to America. It was pretty good...japan NEVER brings its MMO's to western audiences though. Didnt happen with Dragon Quest X, Dragon Ball Online, or MH Online and it wont happen for any future Japan exclusive MMOs. Basically, if this game was an MMO we wouldn't even know about it.

either, if you try to attack it, you're stopped somehow, like the monster insta kills you or something, or theres some reason you cant like your hunter doesnt want to for a lore reason, so you're actively prevented. Literally just a 'Its rude it interrupt the hunt' message on the screen or something. So your hunter isnt allowed in a certain vicinity of the other hunter or monster theyre hunting.

I understand why peopoe that started playing at 5 gen say that we dont need it to be mmo, but as a veteran that started at 3u I can say tht we actually need it. Im just tired of the same type of quests every game. MH has a very rich universe and I feel that is the perfect game to make a PVE MMO or at least a lobby based game as sea of thieves but PVE. Imagine going with your sand boat, or travelling with your Friends on a blimp and seeing other Hunters doing their thing or travelling too. Imagine being in a big map and planting a camp as a base to do quests. It would be the next step into a monster hunting game!!
@irsandar108 ай бұрын
No, MH won't. MH don't need it. It is just a matter of definition I guess, whether it's "MMO" or not... And don't compare it with Genshin as it is a free-to-play "anime" gacha game, people love gambling and meet their waifu/husbando. (*I don't mean to offend anyone, please. It is purely my opinion.)
