The funny thing is that even though DD kind of acts like a big lovable dope he's actually the smartest and most dominant. He figures things out the quickest and whenever one of the other cats tries to challenge his authority he slaps it down fast. Usually by just tackling and laying on them.

@@KayaJane We had some one really similar to DD. We used to play games like these pretty often. I once showed him a little secret, to open a specific "door" on a cardbox castle and I really wanted him to understand how to do it (wasn't simple, there was a mechanism involved) and I became frustrated because even though I showed him while he was looking closely - he didnt repeat what I did and didn't manage to open the door. Instead he was doing all kind of things that (of course) were not going to open it; completely disregarding what I showed to him. After a little while my mother anounced that dinner was ready for the kitties - so they (6) left. Except for him though, he carefully observed whether the other cats were watching and at some point he then quickly opened the door the way I showed him to and entered. Soo.. ? He understood the mechanism all along just didn't want to show it while the others were watching, to keep it to him and him alone?

@@alexanderblattler3672 Unlike dogs, cats don't repeat immediately what they learnt because the owner prompted them to. They store the information and use it whenever they like to. So, don't ever think that they didn't get it. They are just not going to comply because you asked, they have their own character and their own plan which, if you are patient and respectful, you'll see marvels done by them. And, honestly, this is one of the reasons why I like cats. They show waaaaay more character and individuality than many other pets.
