I saw one of these in my neighborhood the other day, still such a gorgeous car. I owned a mint-condition 1980 300 S Turbo diesel. The old Mercedes cars were built like tanks and made to last, my car had over 200k miles and still going strong when I donated it to the humane society. I have a newer, 2008 C 300 luxury class (they came in luxury and sport) and while it's a great car, it's just not like the old models. Thanks for the great video! :)

This is the car that will forever symbolise what Mercedes Benz is to me. It's the car that created the image of every S Class after. When I was young almost every president in the world was driven in one of these except America and Britain lol The w126 and the w140 were over engineered and for me were the last great Mercedes cars before the accountants took over at Mercedes I hope to own one soon and drive if across South Africa and really open it up (don't tell the police hahaha)

In some ways, this is my #1 favorite W126 sedan. What I find to be kind of funny is the kind of status this car has been said to have. In real life, I found lots of pleasant and humble people to own 560 SELs and s one of the other statuses I 've seen them get for being a major antagonists' or mega snobbish arrogant persons' cars or whatever was only Hollywood, T.V. & Movies. And I've come to just laugh at that. My dad owned 3 560 SELs, not all at once. He stared out with an '86, then an '88, then an '89. I've had a lot of fond memories of riding in them, especially the 2nd and 3rd ones. And I got a chance to drive the '89 during that year, when I was 17. It was a blast. Video featuring these 560s almost make me want one. But there's too many other cars I'd love to have as well and I can't have them all.

Thats a 17 year old car.assuming it sold in 2017........At 20,000km per year/12,000 miles normal wear and tear that car should read 320,000 kms/204,000 miles......My 04 Phaeton has 146,000 kms/85,000 miles

The last great S-Class, post the 1991 W126 was junk and serious money pits. My 420SEL also was all black and stunning with room galore. My only complaint was that the A/C constantly failed as those genius engineers at Mercedes-Benz (and BMW apparently) hadn't a CLUE as to how to build air conditioning (VW was the only car company in Germany that knew how to build air conditioning as was their other brands Audi and Porsche) as it's hot AF here in Florida and one cannot be in a hot car for long especially when the original sticker price was $50K. That was my only complaint as that car with the bullet proof engine/transmission had 350K miles on it when I sold it in 2010 and not a moment of trouble from the engine/transmission either during the sixteen years that I owned it. I have a friend who didn't get past 80K miles in his 2012 S-Class before it fell apart and the replacement car a BMW 7-series blew its engine right after the warranty expired. With the exception of Porsche, everything out of Germany is junk as they're nothing more than money pit crap and after thirty-seven years of owning them (except Porsche), I'm done. Hello Toyota and Honda... Hey Mary Ann you failed to point out those foot rests in the rear seat footwell.
