I’ve been disinherited, mainly for running away and becoming a traveling performer (my parents didn’t approve). I don’t mind. My parents can’t control or threaten me anymore.

My parents did this to me. My other 3 siblings inherit it all. To me it was not a surprise as this is how I was treated my whole life. I just wonder the psychology behind this.

I was not left out of the will. At first glance it all looks 50 50, but it was very clevery written to award mineral rights and real estate to my brother. I was set up and betrayed by my parents. Im in shock and it is very hard to take.

My mom and oldest brother owned a house together. Years before she passed., my brother secretly made her sign over the house to his name only. He held title of the house for one year, then gifted my moms share to our other brother. She passed away after all this was done but not until years later and she died without a will.

It's not a child's job to " be good to their parents" as though they had to earn an inheritance. It's the PARENTS JOB to be good to their children.

@@SarahMarie-j2n It goes both ways. When a child is brought up in a caring & loving home then her absent, alcoholic, drug addict, manipulative, abusive father enters her life when she is 16 yrs old & poisoned her mind & she yearns for his approval and love that he gives to his to other children ruins her life because you don't want to be bad guy keeping her away from him. Her life all goes downhill from there and no longer speaks to you because of the lies he told her & she believes him.

In our Philippine law there is called "Legitimates" all children must have share even they are not written in the Will of the deceased parent... The parent can only disinherit if the sons/daughter did not support them, they live immoral life adulterous, they try to kill the parents etc.. But all of this disinheritance process still not directly effective still long process.

I never even saw my biological father's will because the family excommunicated me decade's ago for some unknown reason, yet they still came crawling to me to sign paperwork for access to his bank account, the transport of his body, funeral arrangements... This was after I had requested some assistance (not even financial) because my life was becoming very difficult from a late diagnosed disability & trauma & they rejected me then. They refused to believe he abused me. I didn't want to interrupt anyone's process of grieving so I signed the paperwork & didn't put up a fight, but they're horrible evil people for abandoning me, someone so caring & compassionate (at least I used to be) yet treating strangers so wonderfully. They knew nearly everyone in the state, so I was constantly having to hear from strangers how "fantastic" they were. Unbelievable.. Family is such a joke!

This is the thinking of an intellectually gifted lawyer who is probably hitting all of his goals on time. Guess what bud, some us are dummies have to work in the trades we dont spend our time thinking what rolex to buy or who our next dinner date is/family vacation. Practicality not entitlement. Morality, principled thinking might be the luxury of the well heeled 👠

Not inheriting what parents have saved is a crime and that law should be changed. In other countries such as France, children equally inherit from the parents. As is should be.

It is the parents estate not the childrens. They can leave it to who they want and have a list of names put in the will of those they don't want to have any thing including reaelstate. My mom did just this and my husband and myself plan to do the same. Just because your blood doesn't always mean entitlement especially if the deceased person has who they want to have items and property.

In B.C. the parent can’t write someone out of their will. The parent is morally obligated to provide for their child. The patent has to say why they are cutting the child out, and the judge can decide the reason sucks and vary the will. For those listening to US oriented video, it’s different in B.C.

@The_Ladder_Perspective I don't have to where I live. I told my lawyer when asked who can or will claim or contest my will and it is written she is disinherited plus anyone else I think who I think will do the same that isn't written in my will. It's ironclad. It's a myth about the $1 inheritance. People who think about that leaving $1 need to be informed you don't have to do that. Just Google it or speak to a qualified lawyer. I'm not rich anyway.
