I've got neocaridina shrimp in all but one of my tanks. Guppies, gold honey gourami, lemon tetra, Endler's, chili rasbora, pygmy cories, and bristlenose plecos all have done well with them. My tanks are heavily planted with lots of rock work and some with driftwood, so there are a LOT of hiding places in each tank. I love watching them go about their business.

Here to tell you all. You absolutely can keep cherry shrimp and ghost shrimp in community tanks. You need to set up the tank with a lot of hiding spaces utilising dragon stone, drift wood and ceramic hides. Lots and lots of plant cover contributes massively to the success of your shrimp population. I have had 2 tanks set up for >2 years and there are so many shrimp in there, too many to count. I suggest on initial setup you should cycle the tank and first introduce a small population of shrimp. Let them acclimate and start to berry. Fish such as neon tetras, harlequins etc. can then be introduced into the tank and slowly over time you can add more over time. I found that slowly introducing fish a school at a time allowed the fish to get used to the shrimp. That way when new fish are introduced there is almost a sort of mutual understanding that the shrimp are tank mates and not food. I have never seen my fish go at the shrimp and the shrimp even swim in the middle of the tank with no worry at all. From my experience here are a list of fish that work with cherry shrimp and ghost shrimp: - all species of corydoras - neon, cardinal, lemon, ember, glowlight tetras - harlequin, galaxy, espei, green eye rasboras - bristlenose plecos - Siamese algae eaters - false Siamese algae eaters - praecox/neon rainbows - guppy’s (though i dont recommend as they over breed and take over whole tanks, also planted tanks are not necessarily the proper parameters for them and over time they decay) - white cloud mountain minnows - hill stream loach - furcatta rainbows I hope this information helps. As always trial and error is your best bet and it all can come down to tank size, plant density, hiding places and of course the temperament of the fish.

I got my 100 gallon tank set up with live plants, drift would, and rocks. I have both fish and cherry shrimp in there. The shimp have only been in there a little less than a month and some already have eggs. Im excited to watch their population grow

I've had red cherry shrimp in a heavily planted community tank with rummynose and glowlight tetras and siamese algae eaters. The population was quite stable, with enough babies reaching adulthood to replace those who die of old age and sometimes even slowly growing.

4:28 I have panda corys in a tank with my red cherries and I love those little wiggle butts! I hadn’t kept corys before so I was somewhat surprised by how often I see them wandering up and down the leaves of the giant crypts in the tank. Sometimes they just chill out on a lotus leaf hammock. So cute!

I got 11 shrimps in a 20 gallon long heavily planted tank with a male betta and 6 danios. The betta seems to be actively hunting them. He was like that with danios but now they're fine together. Already put in a piece of cholla wood and some rocks. Will also add some Java moss too.

I’ve had shrimp with my male betta for a couple years now. I’ve never seen him chase or eat the babies. I see baby shrimp occasionally so if he’s eating them he’s also missing a lot since the shrimp population seems to be steady. They have lots of plants and moss to hide in so that likely helps. He ignores the grown shrimp and they pay no attention to him.

Congrats on another great video. I totally agree with you. I would just recommend starting the tank with the shrimp first and, once the colony is established, then add the fish. The chances of success are even greater this way. Cheers!

My betta was "a stone-cold killer". The amanos that survived him did so by taking sanctuary in the filter compartment (tank had an internal sump). One of the things I don't like about bettas is the crapshoot with their attitude and personality.

Female bettas are good with shrimp. I've'd more problems with female guppies than my female bettas. The trick with bettas I've found is adding the betta after the shrimp have established their colony

Hey, I know it's random but guess what...i got my shrimp! 4 red cherries, I believe its 3 males 1 female. All the store had as their shipment, which is once a month and arrived yesterday had all dead shrimp due to an unfortunate random snow. Anyways, they are drip acclimating at the moment. In the end the tank was a ball of subwassertang moss, 2 pieces of Cholla wood and black gravel!

In all honesty am new to the hobby. But in my limited experience otocinclus and White Cloud Minnows go nicely with shrimp. the white clouds will predate on smaller shrimp tho as will all non specialized fish. The best suggestion for a shrimp community would be to just use algae eating species with lots of pebbles and flat rocks for everything to graze and hide. 3x Hillstream loaches, 5 x Vampire Otocinclus and a couple of mystery snails then some red rilli or blue dream shrimp

@@FishKeepingAnswers yeah and its sad because they are severely threatened species in the wild, the aquarium hobby is basically keeping them from going extinct but at least people have started breeding meteor minnows from white clouds so the meteor variety is a little more pricey.

I have shrimps together with fish in som aquariums. if you have a dense vegetation + lots of roots + stones, then they will survive. but! any open water space is a death trap for the shrimps.

I also have red, black & blue cherry shrimp together with neon tetra & a male fighting fish.. The fighter never eats the shrimp unless i dont feed them for day or 2.

Me and my shrimp have not had a good experience with guppies/endlers mixed. the last lady shrimp left over from the great slaughter is berried now and thats because the fat pregnant guppies are not nibling them to death due to me selling them (which was hell as no one really wants guppies when it comes to stores they already have to many). In my opinion worst first time fish is guppy/endlers due to their prolific breeding. I had my guppies for 2 months started with 7 by the end of it there were over 35 of the little cute bastards getting ready to crash the tank and take out all other life with em like little jihadist fish. still nothing is as sweet as a guppies little kisses on your arm while you planting and cleaning the tank. White clouds are amazing fish for a first fish their breeding is slower, less bio load per fish as they poop less, smaller mouths, semi schooling behavior's and lastly they are curious little guys that will readily swim right up to the front of tank and beg for food and give you the stink eye.
