Concluding words of Jaweria "you're building a capacity for parents to be those change makers ... People are speaking for you" sums it all up so well. Absolute gem you are Maryam. I can't wait for the time I'll be able to join Anokhay Mentors with you and then the whole Anokhay series...I just dont want to come out of that world ever ❤❤❤

Same!!! I feel exactly if one day some one caught me screaming at kids. That will be the end of it. 😂 But some days are bad, mann!!! You just really want to get done with that Math lesson. I agree that we should be kind to ourselves and forgive ourselves, and staying consistent with our respectful parenting behaviour is hard. But, I have to say one thing, if I lose it and screw up, I never forget to say sorry to my child afterwards. And the apology has to be Authentic and validating. "I am sorry I talked to you that way, I shouldn't have yelled at you. My body got really overwhelmed and lost my control. I shouldn't have done that. I am going to work really hard and try not to do that next time." Something like that but the most important thing in your apology is validating. An invalidated apology would be where you would say something like this " I am sorry for yelling but I yelled because you were not listening." See there...we shift partly the blame on the child. I have learnt this technique over time. And it is a gem. Also, this doesn't mean we shouldn't talk to the child about his behaviour. But just not in that moment where you lost it. You can return to the problem later when everybody is slightly calmer. ❤

Absolutely! One feels horrible after such an outburst. I remember our parents used to get us toys after being angry at us. 😂 But a sincere apology has so much more to offer than toys.

@The Edopian Yahi baat! A sincere apology. And you could see the positive changing emotions on the child's face after hearing your apology.
