Liz trust literally tried removing the 45% tax rate for high earners and make it 40% that fked the GBP value and she wanted to lower corporate tax instead of i creasing it and directly helping the economy. When tories say reduce tax, they usually imply reducing it for the rich. Claiming to reduce tax without a proper plan to fund the gap will just drive off inflation. They’ll claim to reduce tax by 2%, and when they do, they ignore the fact that prices of everyday goods and services literally doubled as a result. They want to look good on paper. Such a brainless bunch.

Social care and health services in this country are shocking. I suffer with pain every day - apparently not enough to be considered disabled and get any help to allow me to work reduced hours but enough to impact my every day life to a huge degree. Why? Because I’ve waited so long for NHS to offer actual help that I have deteriorated hugely. I was never this bad. No I’ll take longer to fix. I literally cry some days.

When Brexit was confirmed the government should have provided 100,000 free scholarships to UK citizens to nurses, doctors and dentists. Tuition to be paid back at 75% if leaving NHS within 1 year, 50% paid back leaving within 3 years and 25% paid back if leaving within 5 years, zero paid back if staying 5 years +. Anyone that stays 10+ years receives a £25,000 bonus towards either pension or deposit for mortgage on right to buy scheme. As a nation we should be in a position of being able to export nurses and doctors not relying on immigration to fill vacancies. When i was young most girls i knew wanted to be a nurse or vet and i ask myself what the heck happened! Also the government should incentives people caring for family members and friends to assist social care of others within their neighbourhood therefore giving carers a possible career option and route into full time employment. A carer on UC as well as carers allowance if given an additional £50-£60 to care part time for an additional person would assist in current shortages as well as save tax payers millions in the long run.
@shelleyphilcox4743

@errolneptune3995 Your timeline and % on tuition payback is way too short considering the costs. Do you know much about the training structure, costs and usefulness of doctors at FY1, FY2? Giving someone relief at 50% at 3 years service and 75% at just 5 years is madness. It would be better linked to years of service AND training grade achieved. I'm not keen to give 75% relief on a doctor that finished FY2 and then did 3 years out of training giving service still at such a low grade and then pop off to the USA with virtually no student debt. Chances are that they would get a bit more training to the mid Specialty, and then go though, but that is not the way to keep highly trained doctors and retain them at consultant level. I do think that we should set it to length of service at a particular grade and that length of service needs to be longer than what you have set out.

@chrisreynolds3351 I'm curious what part of the UK you're from, I can only speak for my own experience but it seems to me that councils are in dire need of better funding, better planning and less stringent direction from Westminster about where money can and can't be spent, between dire public transport and crumbling public services there is a direct need for councils to restore these local public services to what we remember them to be, with the backing of Westminster. Admittedly this all requires trustworthy people in local office, but I don't think for one moment we will have segregation of cities based on race or faith just because the mayor or others in local office are one of a minority nor does that make them untrustworthy. I've lived in and around places in cities where the overwhelming majority of the local population are minorities but that is because the area is poor, the people are poor, not because it's a 'muslim' or 'minority' area. These people are 'Brits', if they're legally here they have the same rights as you or I - that includes holding public office, and I'd suggest that in areas of the UK where there are Muslim mayors, it probably reflects the needs of the local areas well. If we can't trust those in power because of their religion, I think that drags us back even further.

To be fair, I had a recent illness which meant I had to spend seven weeks in hospital. ALL the nurses were fluent in English, albeit with accents that sometimes made them difficult to understand, but they understood my needs and were all very kind. I only had a very few English nurses. It is worth noting that all the nurses had to pass tests in English to be hired. Then they had to pass rests set by the government, on life in England, plus having to pay a deposit to ensure they could support themselves for three months. They don't come across the channel on rubber boats. Just saying.

Baby boomers are starting to retire and since the 1970s birth rates have declined so there simply isn’t enough British born to fill these jobs so to support people during retirement and for the economy to grow we are going to need migrants but it should be managed properly where we do our bit and take fair share of asylum seekers and migrants we need to fill jobs and no matter how much you may want less migrants to come here we will need to fill the skills gap

Of course all immigration has an impact on the NHS. Those "11 thousand illegal migrants" are entitled to twice weekly GP checks and access to NHS dentistry... Taxpaying citizens can't access that at all. I've had to wait months for blood tests and still can't see my local GP. Meanwhile I'm still working but feeling like sh*t until the NHS catches up. I've worked since i was 17 and do not expect to be put at the back queue to people who could've stayed in any other safe EU country. One factor on birth rate is the unaffordable cost of childcare to allow a parent to work. Or govt subsidies to give financial assistance so one parent can stay at home while the other works. Other cultures have families and communities who look after their own but the West generally doesn't instil those values. There's no party talking about the traditional family..

24:00 KGM is correct. The recent increase in immigration is a deliberate post-Brexit policy by the Conservatives to import cheap labour, specifically for the NHS. They've had ~5 years since the EU referendum to train more doctors, nurses, midwives, but domestic workers would demand higher wages, which they don't want to pay, as the NHS is already budget constrained. Sunak's government also increased the number of student visas for foreign students, who pay much higher fees, which the universities increasingly depend on as their government funding has been withdrawn. The big mistake was allowing students to also bring their dependents (family) which increased the total by ~30%.

The liberalism of Jo Johnson is scarily telling. He implies mass migration is perfectly sensible when you have a falling birth rate of the native population, you can just plug the gap by growing the population via migrants for the sake of growth and economic productivity... as if simply replacing a native Briton with a foreigner from anywhere is a like-for-like swap with no impact on the social fabric of the country at all.
