Trust. I've made plenty of money because I have a friend who's a supplier of knock off jerseys so I sell them to people I know and on kijiji. I'm not gunna say how much exactly I've made but it's quite a lot that I'd be able to take 6 months off of my full time job and have all expenses paid for still plus take a 3 week vacation.

Of course they don't. Also if PL Clubs have their stadiums half full they would still be making money. You should make a video on this too since it's a disgrace clubs are pricing tickets so high. It's good away ticket prices are capped at £30 but changes need to be made for home ticket prices now.
@jonathanlebrun2248
@jonathanlebrun2248 6 жыл бұрын
I can understand for particluar matches tickets will be higher for example I do not mind paying a bit more for a ticket to Liverpool v.s Manchester United or Arsenal vs Chelsea because it is a high quaility fixture. Yet if you expect me to pay the same price for a FA Cup match vs Preston North End that is simply trying to take advantage of fans and if your club makes it to Europa or Champions league it is 10 times worse. I start to wonder do they even want fans at the matches or the owners only want fans who can afford the outragous prices to go.

Actually the atmosphere plays a big role in the drama so if the stadiums were not full the TV product would look crap. Have you watched teams forced to play in quiet stadiums due to UEFA bans or Barcelona recently during the Catalonian crisis? It just doesn't feel the same at all. Also watching football without TV commentators also can feel a bit odd. So while in theory, having half full stadiums will see that lost ticket revenue covered by TV revenue, the TV product would eventually suffer.

Bradley Smith It's fake because it's literally impossible to sell that many shirts in one day. The very best and most marketable clubs in the world are lucky to sell that many in a year, nevermind with the print of only one player. It's a made up number that became viral. @lacasacablog on Twitter has explained that better than me. Check him out.

Solid analysis. I think that making the Juventus brand relevant again is worth more than what they would get back from shirt sales anyways. Even though Juventus has had success in recent years, they’ll have even more eyes on them now with CR7 in the XI.

Don’t Juventus have a different deal? They sell their kits on their website and reportedly get a higher percentage because they do more themselves. Maybe I’m mistaken but if not how are you going to make a video about Ronaldo shirt sales at Juventus and not mention Juventus shirt sale scheme

@nobad6134
@nobad6134 6 жыл бұрын
I think in those situations, club shops just act as secondary retailers. Adidas will print a certain amount for Juventus to sell on their own if they want, just like every club shop has football kits. But these sales to loyal supporters who visit your club shop or website, will be a small percentage of the global market share owned by Adidas and Nike, which is where the real money comes from. Juventus don't have the resources to market and distribute kits to some kid in Japan who loves Italian football but Adidas can.

Frankly, Jeep would have to pay me to wear the jersey, or at least provide it gratis. I'm still wondering--thought admittedly not enough to Google it--how much Jeep's sponsorship cost will go up, if it's not already locked in several years in advance. That being the case, if I were the team I'd still like to see a clause in the contract that makes allowances for extraordinary events, for example signing a player who will cause millions of jerseys to be sold, and potentially billions of additional eyes to see the brand's name.
@jonathanlebrun2248

I thought the people who own Juventus is the same company who own Jeep so I would imagine Jeep pays nothing for shirt sponsorship
@hughmac13
@hughmac13 6 жыл бұрын
Whoa, bringing back the Whale. Good point. That's what I get for not researching first. In the back of my head I think I was aware that the club had been owned by the Agnellis, but didn't make the connection from Fiat to Fiat-Chrysler, which inludes Jeep of course. That being said, payments will still have to be made for tax and legal transparency. And while Famiglia Agnelli (through Exor N.V.) controls a large part of FCA and a majority of Juventus, there are other shareholder fingers in those pies who might want to see their side exploit such a momentus transfer, or others who, rightly or wrongly, believe that tens of millions on kit sponsorship in a growing but still middling Jeep market is misspent.
@nobad6134
@nobad6134 6 жыл бұрын
All these shirt sale contracts are incredibly complex with armies of lawyers negotiating the clauses. So there would be some performance related add ons. I think these are baked into the cake of extra bonuses which the football club will have royalties on in addition to their flat annual payment by the clothes manufacturer. So if United saw an extraordinary uptick in sales after Pogba was signed, those extra 1 million shirts sold that year beyond the usual Adidas estimate, would see United get like 10 percent in a bonus or something.

So if brands like Adidas or Nike are the ones who profit the most from a transfer like Ronaldo's are they allowed to help clubs purchase players or help negotiations between clubs?
@nobad6134
@nobad6134 6 жыл бұрын
No they're in a different business line, creating all kinds of clothing and footwear all around the world. Clubs are just selling their brand for the clothes companies to make products off. Plus if Adidas or Nike started intervening between internal club football politics in a big way then that would cause conflicts of interest. It is in the best interest for Adidas and Nike which are like a global duopoly to low ball all the top clubs around the world because no one else can really offer their sportswear marketing and distribution services on a global scale.

Madrid don't print their own kits. They like every football club get a flat free from the clothes manufacturer for their intellectual brand. These kit deals are basically like professional athlete sponsorship deals. Lebron James doesn't get paid for every shoe Nike sells but gets a flat annual fee for the right of Nike to use his image to print shoes which he'll wear on the court. I think there should be a decent bonus for extraordinary sale years beyond a target but I doubt it was enough for Madrid to recoup the entire 100 million euros or so fee that Ronaldo cost.
