For some reason when I was little I briefly fixated on shoe shining. My parents bought me a little kit in a red bag and I liked to unpack and look at and feel all the parts, we didn’t have the right type of shoes to shine, and they didn’t trust me to do it right (fair, because I didn’t rlly understand even with the instructions) but maybe once a week I would unpack it all, look at the parts, feel them, smell them and sometimes imagine I was using them, then neatly pack them up. This was very satisfying to watch to some part of me that still thinks abt that little red bag sometimes.

Im curious what purpose the knife serves. Is it to remove pieces of leather that are flaking away or something? I’ve never had shoes shined so I’m very unfamiliar with the process, but it’s relaxing to watch regardless.
