If I remember correctly I think rizizone said that marigold voice sounds very similar to who ever is behind the shutter in Grizzco when the lady ask if you want to buy something

Just quickly pointing out the scroll isn't the only place we learn of the name marigold. It's also on the table turf card representing the staff. Otherwise, very good video! Personally I do think we'll see more about her in the dlc. I don't have many thoughts on the matter sorry.

It's not cloning I don't think. I think they're just going for a gag where Marigold constantly shifts and disguises herself in different roles to hide from the authorities. You never see two of them in the same place... Also, I'd like to note that the sunken scroll actually does allude to the DLC. There appears to be a Splatoon version of France, Japan, and (I think) China which we will be exploring with Off the Hook on their world tour.

Yeah cloning could be completely out of the question! We really can't say for sure and I think it's just as likely that Nintendo chose to put a gag about someone with multiple identities that work multiple jobs in the game. Though you can't see them at the same time, both the Recon and Tableturf staff members are in the plaza at all times. I really hope Off The Hook get's the spotlight they deserve and get a world tour like they said in Splat 2. I like that Idea and think that they'll be going to different areas and hope it somehow gets incorporated!

Usually with characters you don't see in-game, you only see them 2d in sunken scrolls, but Glen Fiddler is clearly 3d. Call me insane, but I have a feeling we might see Glen Fiddler in the dlc. They couldn't have made him a 3d model for nothing. Or I'm just overthinking it. I hope he does make an apperance because I think he'd be a pretty interesting character.

Yeah! Glen is definitely a 3D model. Nintendo could've just used regular artwork instead of a 3d model, so they have to have more plans for it! I hope so at least!

It took me too long to notice that scroll was talking about the staff on the splatville plaza. To me, it is too far fetched the idea of cloning and I would say it was just a nod from Nintendo saying that what we see just as random friendly staff member, might have interesting backgound that they leaved behind. It is interesting to think about it though :).

When I read the Sunken Scroll...I came up with a darker variant of the thought. Different goldfish were captured, experimented on, brainwashed?...until they all were a Marigold, working happily under the boss of Turf War.

If u look at the map, u can see that marigold is only ever at one place at once. She won’t be at the tableturf battle station and recon at once. U can only rly see this in the inkopolis DLC, but ye basically she just runs really fast lol

In the DLC for Inkopilos, you're able to see two spots where Marigold resides at once (recon and tableturf), but she'll only be in one of them. She switches to the other if you walk past a certain point. I think if they really were clones, this wouldn't happen. However, if it were cloning, I suspect Lil Judd to be a part of the equation, since he himself is a clone and, if the Lil Judd CEO theory is true, they both have ties to Grizzco. It could also be a factor even if she isn't a clone

I do think that we're going to see her in the DLC, possibly as some kind of underling of the main antagonist (Lil' Judd?). If they don't elaborate on Marigold that would be very weird imo

I may be late but, the splat 3 dlc has somewhat a relationship with clones. All we have for marigold lore is 1 scroll and shes a clone. Or shes just larry from the amazing world of gumball

The side picture looks like Big Shot. Maybe Marigold is just a Salmonid which was cloned to work in Splatsville. My Story (I would think of): One day Mr Grizz found out how to make Big Shots friendly to him. Once he made a Big Shot friendly he called it Marigold. Mr Grizz cloned Marigold after some days and created the Staffs which needed to work for him. He gave the clones to Splatsville. The original was still working for him.

While I do think the idea of Marigold being some kind of hardcore criminal in hiding is quite amusing, the cloning idea isn't actually all that far-fetched. In fact, it's actually happened in Splatoon before. Quote from Splatoon Base, the official Splatoon website. "C.Q. is a life-form created specifically to operate the Deepsea Metro. There's a lot of them, as managing the vast Deepsea Metro is a rather sizable task." If the Deep Sea Metro can mass clone sea cucumbers to operate the railways, why can't Splatsville do the same for Goldfish?

I wonder if C.Q. is a clone or just someone who kinda has a hivemind kinda thing going on, like most of the jellyfish. That is true though! Cloning, though seeming crazy at first, isn't that weird for the Splatoon universe.

@@NackSploon Considering that the C.Q. Cucumbers (noticeably just called Conductor Sea Cucumbers in the Japanese version, almost like a title more than a name) are said to have been "created", it definitely seems more like a cloning thing.

Personally I think the 3 “Marigolds” are the goldfish *used* to make the clones, they all have unique body types or features but have one thing that Marigold keeps. The thin one has Marigold’s hair, the one w/ the mole obviously has the mole, and the last one is the facial structure. If the photos were also colorized theres a possibility that their colors were also mixed together or some aren’t present (aka the one w/ the mole since marigold doesnt have any colors to be depicted that dark from what ik). I hope they add crusty sean in the DLC, I felt so betrayed when they replaced him with Marigold (yes I do hold a grudge against her for solely that)… Make him Agent 7 Nintendo, yk u wanna.

And notice the word: SUBJECT marigold. The term subject was also used in, guess what? Innocent cephalopods being forced to do obstacle courses against their will! I don’t think any form of police would use the word subject, it’s much to science laby to me. But contradicting to what I just said: 😅 I’m pretty sure there’s only three Marigolds in splatsville, so they could be siblings. Also, fish can give birth to LOADS of babies at a time, so maybe that’s why there’s a bunch of identical goldfish out there.

Yeah! The scroll is even found in the "Happiness Research Lab" part of Alterna! Very suspicious and definitely puts more of a science label on it. Buuuut yeah we do only know of 3 Staff characters and there were 3 identities so it's very well possible that they aren't clones...

Well, as a Japanese person, I can confirm that it is the way Japanese people say mother. Though technically an English word, if a Japanese person were to say "mother" like how it's said in English, it would translate as "mazā". That is how it is spelled in the JP version of Splatoon, thus making a it a fake word that still exists in the game. Kind of like a slang. They use English like that a lot in Japan. Commonly referred to as Japanglish. Japan has other words they use in place of mother (such as Okāsan). Other words commonly take place over saying mazā just because it's really unnatural for Japanese speakers. I didn't really want to go in depth about how Japan uses English words like that in the video though so it was a much simpler explanation.

DJ Octavio and Tartar not knowing of each other, or not liking each other 8. Agent 3 not "hygienically string" 9. No one able to understand English 10. Marie liking Agent 4
