You should build one of these, but have a slidey surface on the bottom or wheels instead of the non-slide rubber. Then you can attach some leftover elastic to the back, and have someone drag you around a public place while you play. Street performer profit

I am so new to woodworking it is pitiful. I saw my first cajon a month ago and wanted to try my own but as a newbie I don't want to spend a lot. This is the most simple build I have found yet. You explain it in terms I can understand. That k you for making this video easy for me.

Eli, I've been a subscriber for a while now & enjoy the "style" that you inject into your videos. While your weapons building is evolving and progressing nicely, it is awesome to see you step out of your comfort zone & build something that is to create rather than destroy. Either way, those if us that are true fans will ALWAYS support your efforts, wherever that journey takes you. Da Vinci was so much more than a weapons engineer! Hard work IS it's own reward! Over the years I have picked up MANY odd talents & skills. I eat fire, I create custom leatherwork, I make custom chain mail, I twist Balloon Animals, I pick locks & I plait bullwhips among other oddities! Keep up the good work! From one Chicago boy to another (Oh Yeah, I grew up at Belmont & California!), My best bit of advise... NEVER deny your curiosities!

I'd not heard of a cajon before but your points about smaller drums vs full drum kits for acoustic session is very accurate. In Scottish and Irish folk music single side drums and hand drums like the bodhrán are very common. You won't often see someone carting a full kit to the pub. Would love to see you have a go at making something like a bodhrán.

i've heard something along the lines of if you um, if you spread a thin layer of regular wood glue, i mean very thinly, and let it dry, and then give it a buff sanding with a really high grit to smooth it out again, then the layer of glue will help even out the wood's ability to absorb a stain and leave less uneven toning and blotching, haven't tried it myself but it might be worth looking into

You could also use the screws to hold the pieces instead of clamps. Once the glue is dry, it is actually stronger than the wood or nails are also. Just an idea to save you some time and steps. Just glue, screw, and move on.

just a tip for later, try not to put all of your screws on the same grain of wood, it could split it. instead, alternate them in kind of a zig-zag pattern the same distance that you had them, just alternating between the left and right. LIKE THIS: --------------------------- • • • • and so on
@ZNA_Productions

The face plate is plywood, meaning multiple thin veneers of wood glued with their grains crossed, so you don't have to worry about it splitting. Thanks for the comment!
